VA/DC 2024 Rankings: Stock Watch

There are plenty of uncommitted players remaining in the 2024 class, but there may not be any that have created noise and traction like the five in this article.

Take a look at the players below to see what stands out most about them and could push their recruitment over the top.


Stock Watch:

Bryce Adams MIF / SS / Benedictine College Prep, VA / 2024

There aren't many dynamic offensive threats left in the VA/DC 2024 class like Adams. Medium build with proportional strength and twitch in actions. Above average runner, bat speed, and a heavy barrel that can impact the ball in a big way. Had a very strong showing at 17U National Championship where he showed his offensive capabilities. He continues to show his value and should be one of the first players on everyone's recruiting board.

Jack Feehery LHP / 1B / Gonzaga, VA / 2024

Feehery is probably the most intriguing arm left in the 2024 class. Lower slot lefty with advanced feel for spin that is next level ready. The slider is a bit soft in terms of velo, but it doesn't lack in terms of shape, feel for the zone, or spin metrics. Up to 16" of horizontal movement during his outing at the Procase, to go along with -6" of depth. His spin scores are some of the best in the state and that applies for the fastball and slider. Mid 80's arm with a touch more at times and gives a different look for hitters. Feehery profiles as a middle-back end bullpen arm and would be a really tough one to face in left-left matchups.

Noah Grossmann RHP / SS / George C. Marshall, VA / 2024

Compact 5-foot-9 frame, normal to light effort, and works from a low three-quarter arm slot. Grossman had a really heavy workload during the high school season and saw his velo dip just a touch early in the summer, but it climbed back to it's usual mid 80's velo later in the summer. He got up to 87-88 in the 17U National Championship, but pitches more in the mid 80's range. Biggest asset for Grossman is his aptitude for spin. Mid 70's slider and the ability to miss bats and get outs while using it in the zone. Also, the right hander showed feel for a 78-80 mph changeup with some late fade and makings of a quality third pitch that he used successfully versus hitters from both sides.

Edwin Sanchez OF / RHP / Freedom (South Riding), VA / 2024

Like Adams, see above, Sanchez is a dynamic offensive threat. 5-foot-10 medium athletic build, broad shoulders, and proportional strength to the frame. Above average runner, big arm strength, and positional versatility in the outfield. Hands preset back in the swing, small hand load, and direct flat path through the zone. Sprays line drives around the field with a heavy barrel and some raw power to tap into as he continues to develop. Above average hand speed and elite bat speed through zone.

Payton Tone 1B / RHP / Western Branch , VA / 2024

I am not sure where Tone ends up, on the mound or at the plate, but regardless of where he plays, this is a '24 that can help a team right away. On the mound there is effort and intent to the delivery, mid to upper 80's velo, and a reliever profile with stuff that has flashed swing and miss. Physical left handed bat at the plate with high end bat speed and adjustability in the swing. There is some power to both gaps and is willing to adjust in two strike counts, showing some hit tool in the bat as well. Again, this is a player that could impact a team right away.
