Mid-Atlantic State Games: Upperclass Quick Hits Part II

Last weekend, well over 150 players from Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, and DC descended on War Memorial Stadium in Hampton Roads, Virginia for the 2022 Mid-Atlantic State Games. Players took part in a showcase workout on Saturday and a game throughout the day Saturday and Sunday. Some of the Region's top committed prospects were also on the field on Saturday night for the 2022 Committed Game.
Now we take a look back at some standout moments from uncommitted upperclass players that were in attendance.
Upperclass Quick Hits: Part II

Maximus Mullins 3B / OF / Middletown (DE), MD / 20246-foot-1, 205-pound frame. Had two strong rounds during the workout on Saturday and followed that up with a loud barrel in game on Sunday. Hands separate late, length in the path, and has some uphill tilt. Physical bat with run producing capabilities.

Owen Peterson SS / 2B / Potomac School, VA / 2024This young man has a tremendous feel for the barrel and continues to produce at the plate. Short path to contact, quick hands, and has a present hit tool that translates to the next level. Average runner that plays a tick quicker in game and a bat that has the ability to produce up and down the lineup.

Kody Phillips C / 2B / Severna Park, MD / 2024Wider square setup, hands back, and slight arm bar. Does a nice job getting back inside and accelerates through the zone. Did a nice job in game of making an adjustment on a breaking ball and doubling to left field, his second double of the game. Very intriguing bat.

Tanner Schaedel 3B / RHP / Cape Henry Collegiate , VA / 2024One of the best uncommitted 2024's in VA/DC, Schaedel had one of the better BP rounds of the day. Lean strength, athletic, competes, gamer. Always seems to show up when the lights come on. Hit multiple balls out during BP and then had a hard single through the left side during game play. He is a versatile defender that has the ability to be an adequate defender at multiple positions.

Ryan Tucholka C / 1B / Mills Godwin, VA / 2024Strong 5-foot-11 frame. Coming off of a strong showing at the RBA/Cardinals Scout Day two weeks ago, Tucholka continues to grow on the offensive side. Strength to the pull side, but can produce extra bases to all fields. Flatter path to contact, quick hands, and showed some adjustability at the plate. Stayed on a breaking ball for a double early in game and then ripped a line drive through the left side later on. Long term, I think Tucholka moves to first base and if the bat continues to produce at this clip, he could be a solid middle of the order type of bat.
