RVA Fall Review Reactions Part I

Jason Burton
Richmond Scouting Coordinator

On October 20th at Ironbridge Baseball Academy PBR VA/DC held its 1st annual RVA Fall Review. There were 32 participants on hand for the event and over the next few days we are going to be highlighting a few that stood out.

Cody Christman 3B / 1B / Walsingham Academy , VA / 2022

Strong physical frame at 5-foot-10, 210-pounds. Defensively can contribute at either corner spot, but long term will more than likely move to first base permanently. Is a middle of the order type bat. Short path to the ball with some barrel and hand speed. Uphill tilt to the swing and shows some present pull side power. Was a solid contributor for Walsingham last year as a freshman and looks to have improved on that even more.

Trey Christman SS / 3B / Walsingham Academy , VA / 2023

Long projectable athlete at 6-foot-3 and plenty of room to grow into it. At the plate shows an open athletic stance. Gets on plane early and stays on through contact. Slightly uphill path with some gap to gap power potential. Defensively has the length and range to play the left side with above average arm strength. Matching his size and athleticism with some high level offensive ability make Christman a can’t miss prospect in the 2023 class.

Clark Driscoll C / SS / Clover Hill , VA / 2022

Compact frame at 5-foot-8 and shows some athleticism. Driscoll is one of the harder workers that you will see and has some tools to go along with it. Behind the plate he continues to improve every time we see him. Pop times got below 2.00 a few times at 78 mph. Flashed his arm strength on the infield as well with some throws at 82 mph. At the plate showed some aggression getting through the zone. Level path with a gap to gap approach, line drive tendency, and consistent barrels on the day.

Derrell Fletcher C / RHP / Benedictine, VA / 2022

Athletic makeup at 6-foot-1 with some present strength and projection left to it. Athletic balanced setup at the plate, swing has some distinct uphill tilt to it, and showed some pull side tendency. Above average arm strength in the infield and behind the plate. On the mound Fletcher had a short quick arm. Fastball had some carry and the changeup showed the makings of a very solid secondary pitch with some late hard fade.

Andrew Harris RHP / 3B / Glen Allen, VA / 2023

Athletic frame at 6-foot. Harris has some definite two-way potential. At the plate showed aggression in the swing with ability to drive the ball to all fields. Hand speed getting through the zone and has some uphill tilt to the swing path. Defensively Harris showed arm speed and strength across the infield. Really showed well on the mound where he ran the fastball up to 83 mph. Fastball had plenty of late life to the arm side. The Glen Allen freshman shows a ton of potential as he continues to grow into the frame and should be fun to watch in the future.
