In mid-July, over 30 players took part in our Top Prospect Games II showcase at City Stadium in Lynchburg. Today, we continue our detailed breakdown of that event with the primary catchers:

Micah Canterbury C / 3B / Buffalo Gap, VA / 2023

Canterbury is 6-0 with an athletic frame that has some strength present and some projection left to it. He hits from the right side from a slightly open taller athletic stance, strides on line, short load back to a slight wrap. Hips rotate completely with some violence and he maintains some lower half balance. Slightly uphill swing with some strength at contact and extension through the ball, showed a pull preference with some natural loft in his swing, exit velocity was 82. Behind the plate, clean exchange, throws from a high three-quarters arm slot, short arm action, position velocity was 73 and pop times 2.04-2.18. Very accurate with his throws.

Colin Souther C / 3B / Hayfield Secondary School, VA / 2023

Souther is 6-1 with a lankier athletic frame that has plenty of projection left to it. He hits from the right side from an open tall relaxed stance, strides on line, smooth load back to a wrap. Hips rotate completely with some violence and he maintains good lower half balance. Hands stay inside, short to ball, slightly uphill swing path, line drive swing, showed a pull preference with natural loft in his swing, exit velocity was 77. Behind the plate, clean exchange, throws from a high three-quarters arm slot, position velocity was 69 and pop times 2.17-2.35. Showed some accuracy on his throws.

Caden Swartley C / OF / Turner Ashby, VA / 2023

Swartley is 5-11 with an athletic frame that has some strength present and plenty of projection left to it. He hits from the right side from a slightly open crouched athletic stance, low leg kick stride on line, short load back to a slight wrap.
