Day 3 of the 2018 Prep Baseball Report Future Games saw Team Mid-Atlantic square off against Team Florida in their second early morning matchup of the event. Team Mid-Atlantic brought in a trio of southpaws that kept a talented Florida lineup at bay for the majority of the game as speed and timely hitting helped the Mid-Atlantic squad prevail in a 6-2 victory. Here are a few notes from a few of the players from this matchup.

Jon Compton C/OF Gate City (VA) 2020
Compton   led Team Mid-Atlantic going 2-for-2 in the game with an RBI, stolen base, and two runs scored. Compton showcased his speed off in his first hit, a ball up the middle that he easily beat out before the shortstop could cut the ball off and make a play, keeping the inning alive with two outs and scoring a runner from second at the same time. Compton showed off his physicality and strength then in his second at bat, with an off-balance one handed ball that was launched and landed just short of the fence over the left fielder. Compton was hard out the box again and cruised in for a triple and later scored a run.

Thomas Trinca OF Centreville (VA) 2020
Trinca continued his impressive play throughout the Future Games, reaching base in both at bats and getting an RBI double to right-center. Trinca has a short and direct path to the bal with bat speed and has continued to show his knack for getting barrel on the ball. Trinca would add a stolen base to his stat sheet on the day and has played well in the outfield at all positions.

Bryce Suters SS/3B Broadway (VA) 2021
Suters has been one of the more interesting 2021 grads at the future games with his physicality and athleticism on the diamond. Suters has offensive upside and that was most evident in a first-pitch line drive hit to left field.

Travis Garnett LHP Indian Creek (MD) 2021
The lanky 6-foot-5 pitching prospect out of Indan Creek HS has had limited appearances this summer yet did well despite some rust in his two inning start. Garnett gave up one run in the outing from a bases loaded walk, but proved to be very tough on hitter to pick up out of hand and was especially a nuisance to left-handed hitters getting plenty of defensive swings at the plate. Garnett topped out at 86 mph on the day.

Andrew Ward LHP Fluvanna (VA) 2020
Ward came in as the first reliever for Team Mid-Atlantic and was very impressive in his outing, quieting the Floirda lineup with his fastball and big swing and miss breaking ball. Ward worked with great tempo through his outing and attacked the strikezone with a fastball that got stronger as the outing went and reached 88 mph in his second inning of work. Ward's breaking ball had a big break with 1/7 shape that occasionally would look more 2/8. The pitch showed later action and swing and miss potential up to 75 mph.

Tyler Davis LHP Grafton (VA) 2020
Davis was the final lefty of the game working the 5th and 6th innings. Davis showed strong command of his fastball as the outing went, working a low fastball that got up to 86 mph. Davis showed two different breaking balls in the outing, a bigger one that was 70-72 mph and a harder action one that ranged from 76-77 mph.

Josh Moylan 1B Archbishop Spalding (MD) 2020
Moylan has quietly been one of the more interesting power hitting first base prospects of the event. The left-handed hitter looks to have high end power potential at the plate while also providing excellent defensive ability and athleticism around the bag. Moylan stung the ball well in this game, most notably sending a deep drive to straight-away center that was taken away by a great read in center field.

Trey Carter RHP/OF Carlisle (VA) 2020
Carter has been one of the most toolsy prospect at the Future Games. the 6-foot-4, 197-pound centerfielder has rawness to his game that shows his best years are ahead of him as he develops his game. This was most evident in his last at-bat of the game, sending a scorcher to left field that was taken away by a great diving catch.
