Strong athletic frame at 5-foot-11, 180-pounds. High end speed from the catching position with a 6.57 60-yard dash. Displays quick twitch with explosiveness. Hits from a balanced set up with hands back above shoulder level. Level swing path with fast bat speed and strength in swing. Power is present to pull side. 98 mph exit velocity. Has quick feet from behind the plate with clean exchange and short arm action to release. Pop as low as 2.16 during the workout with velocity of 76 mph. During games showed off the rare combination of speed and strength. Plays at his speed out of the box on the offensive end. legged out a high chopper through the middle with ease. One-handed a ball just short of the fence to left field in game that turned into a triple. Hits second triple of event on last day with well driven ball to right center. Still some rawness to his game that should only improve his game. Future may end up in the outfield because of his top tier speed.

Compton is 5-11 with an athletic frame that is mature but still has some projection left to it. He hits from the right side from a balanced slightly open stance, short stride on line, smooth load back, hips rotate completely and can get explosive, good balance during swing. Short, slightly uphill swing path, gets extension through the ball, very strong at contact, bat gets some whip too. Showed pull preference, has easy extra base power to all fields now with the potential to have home run power to all fields, exit velocity was 95. Behind plate, quick clean exchange, throws from high three-quarters arm slot with a short arm action, showed accuracy on his throws, preferring to put a long one-hop on the bag. Catcher velocity was 75, pop times were 1.98-2.14. Showed athleticism to play outfield as well, arm plays up there, with his outfield velocity at 84.
11.5.17: Athletic physical frame at 5-foot-11, 180-pounds. Ran a 6.69 60-yard dash on damp track. Hits from an open set up with high hands above the shoulder. Short load with leg lift squaring up to baseball. Gets into backside and gets nice hip explosion through contact. Hands are short, simple, and quick to the ball that free up as they extend through contact. Did get long at times during BP, getting around the ball, but showed fast bat speed and power potential at the plate. Exit velo of 94 mph. Active feet in the outfield with sound hands to exchange with a short arm action. Worked thru ball well with throws up to 85 mph. Solid footwork and clean exchange from behind the plate. Smooth throughout, though could quicken his feet on pops. Pop time as low as 2.02. Sound receiving skills sticking ball well, though can get stiff at times. Average sway side to side, does have some room for improvement, his natural athleticism should help that continue to improve. Very interesting prospect in the 2020 class who could turn into a special player.
