Close to 80 players from across the Old Line State, Delaware, Pennsylvania, and Virginia, participated in this year's PBR Maryland Top Prospect Games West at Arthur W. Perdue Stadium, home of the Delmarva Shorebirds. Players were put through a pro-style workout in front of our PBR Maryland scouting staff with Trackman and Blast also on hand to record data. Below are evaluations on the 15 catchers from the event.

Andrew Bashor C / Severna Park, MD / 2022
Body: 6’0’’, 207 pounds. Strong, physical body frame Hit: RHH. Hits from a balanced, slightly crouched, square stance at the plate. Hands are pre-set with a rhythmic type toe tap load and solid hand separation. Stays behind the ball well, keeping head down through contact with quick hands and bat speed through the zone. Solid extension through the zone with strong lower half involvement. Cuts follow through short. Attacks the ball with intent with a solid middle of the field line drive approach. Slight uphill swing path with power present to the gaps and alleys. Power: 91 mph exit velocity per TrackMan during BP. Gap-to-gap pop present with more projected. Arm: RH. C - 78 mph. Throws with shorter arm action from a high three-quarter slot. Defense: Pop times ranged 1.91 - 2.04. Gets out of crouch quickly and replaces feet well. Gains ground on throws towards second base. Lightning quick catch and release with smooth transfers and some accuracy on throws. Run: 7.43 60-yard time.

Body: 6’1’’, 170 pounds. Strong, athletic, projectable frame. Hit: RHH. Hits from a balanced, upright, open stance at the plate. Smooth back load with a smaller stride. Creates some hand separation with quick hands and fast bat speed through the zone. Short, compact swing with a more level swing path. Attacks the ball with intent, utilizing strong lower half involvement and solid extension through the zone and past contact. Strong one-handed finish with a solid middle of the field line drive approach. Power: 89 mph exit velocity per TrackMan during BP. Gap-to-gap pop with more projected. Arm: RH. C - 72 mph. Throws with short arm action from a three-quarter slot. Defense: Pop times ranged 2.01 - 2.22. Gains ground on throws and replaces feet well. Quick, clean exchanges with strong, accurate throws to second base that showed carry. Run: 7.64 60-yard time.

Brenner Gursky 2B / RHP / Snow Hill, MD / 2022
Body: Athletic body frame. Hit: RHH. Hits from an upright, balanced, slightly open stance at the plate. Slight bat wiggle into a smooth back load with some hand separation. Stays behind the ball well and keeps his hands inside with a short, compact swing. Shows quick hands and fast bat speed through the zone with solid extension past contact. Some lower half involvement and attacks the ball with intent. Solid gap-to-gap line drive approach with a strong one handed finish. Power: 85 mph exit velocity per TrackMan during BP. some gap-to-gap pop present with more projected. Arm: RH. C - 72 mph. Throws with short arm action from a high three-quarter slot. Defense: Pop times ranged 2.05 - 2.25. Quick, active feet behind the dish and gets out of the crouch quickly. Replaces feet well with consistent clean exchanges and accurate throws to second base. Run: 7.80 60-yard time.

Cole Harkness C / 2B / St Mary's Ryken, MD / 2022
Body: 5’10’’, 155 pounds. Strong, athletic body frame. Hit: RHH. Hits from an upright, square stance at the plate. Solid weight transfer front to back with a smooth back load and nice hand separation. Stays short to the ball with a small leg kick and quick hands through the zone. Short, compact swing and stays behind the ball well with some lower half involvement. Solid extension through the zone and past contact with a strong one handed finish. Gap-to-gap line drive approach. Power: 88 mph exit velocity per TrackMan during BP. Present strength and power to the gaps and alleys with more projected. Arm: RH. C - 71 mph. Throws with short arm action from an over the top arm slot. Defense: Pop times ranged 1.98 - 2.05. Quick, active feet behind the dish and gets out of the crouch in a hurry. Smooth, clean exchanges and replaces feet well. Creates solid momentum towards second base with accurate throws to the bag. Run: 7.49 60-yard time.

Body: 5’8’’, 150 pounds. Athletic body frame Hit: RHH. Hits from a balanced, upright, slightly closed stance at the plate. Short, quick stride and small leg kick with a smooth back load. Creates solid hand separation and stays short to the ball with rhythm. Quick hands through the zone with bat speed. Keeps hands inside the ball well with some lower half involvement. Creates solid extension through the zone and past contact, finishing strong with two hands and slight recoil. Gap-to-gap line drive approach. Power: 81 mph exit velocity per TrackMan during BP. Projectable pull side pop. Arm: RH. C - 60 mph. INF - 62 mph. Throws with short arm action from a high three-quarter slot. Defense: Pop times ranged 2.26 - 2.37. Quick side step and gains ground on throws to second base. Replaces feet well with clean exchanges and some accuracy on throws to the bag. Run: 7.33 60-yard time.

Nick Malone C / RHP / South Carroll, MD / 2021
Body: 6’1’’, 185 pounds. Strong, physical body frame Hit: RHH. Hits from a balanced, crouched, square stance at the plate. Hands are pre-set with a slight bat wiggle and smooth back load. Short stride and leg kick. Solid hand separation and stays behind the ball well with quick, strong hands through the zone. Hands tend to drift away from the body with solid extension through the zone and some lower half involvement. Gap-to-gap approach with a slight uphill swing path. Power: 89 mph exit velocity per TrackMan during BP. Present strength and power to the gaps and alleys. Arm: RH. C - 76 mph. Throws with shorter arm action from a three-quarter slot. Defense: Pop times ranged 1.94 - 2.09. Gets out of the crouch quickly and replaces feet well. Does a great job gaining ground towards second base with quick, clean exchanges and accurate throws that showed carry. Run: 7.61 60-yard time.

Body: 6’1’’, 175 pounds. Strong, athletic body type. Hit: RHH. Hits from a balanced, crouched, open stance at the plate. Hands start above the hitting zone and drop considerably before contact. Smooth back load with solid hand separation and a high leg kick. An elongated stride with good front to back weight transfer. Creates solid extension through the zone with quick hands and some lower half involvement. Hands finish high with two hands and a slight uphill swing path through the hitting zone. Worked the middle of the field with a gap-to-gap approach during his BP rounds. Power: 87 mph exit velocity per TrackMan during BP. Some pop present to the gaps and alleys. Arm: RH. C - 71 mph. Body: 5’11’’, 185 pounds. Strong body type. Hit: RHH. Hits from a tall, balanced, slightly open stance at the plate. Smooth, minimal back load with some hand separation. Attacks the ball with intent and stays behind the ball well with quick hands through the zone. Creates solid extension through the zone and past contact with some lower half involvement. Strong two handed finish with an uphill swing path. Gap-to-gap line drive approach, squaring up several balls to the pull side. Power: 84 mph exit velocity per TrackMan during BP. Present strength and power to the pull side. Arm: RH. C - 71 mph. Throws with short arm action from a high three-quarter slot. Defense: Pop times ranged 1.98 - 2.16. Gets out of the crouch quickly and replaces feet well. Gains ground and creates momentum to second base with clean exchanges and accurate throws to second base. Run: 7.53 60-yard time.

Worked mostly pull side during BP with a line drive, gap-to-gap approach. Power: 87 mph exit velocity per TrackMan during BP. Present pull side power Arm: RH. C - 73 mph. OF - 79 mph. Throws with longer arm action from a high three-quarter arm slot. Defense: Pop times ranged 2.05 - 2.14. Works through the ball with quick, active feet. Consistent clean exchanges with throws that showed some carry. Run: 7.24 60-yard time.

Body: 5’9’’, 185 pounds. Strong, athletic body frame. Hit: RHH. Hits from a balanced, slightly crouched, square stance at the plate. Hands are pre-set with a smooth, quick back load and solid hand separation with rhythm. Short kick out stride with quick hands and bat speed through the zone. Bat gets on plane early with excellent extension through the zone and past contact with solid lower half involvement. Hands stay inside the ball well and the ball consistently exploded off the bat with a strong middle to pull side approach. Power: 94 mph exit velocity per TrackMan during BP. Present pull side pop with more projected. Arm: RH. C - 68 mph. Throws with shorter arm action from a high three-quarter slot. Defense: Pop times ranged 2.06 - 2.19. Slight side step and gets out of the crouch quickly. Replaces feet well and gains ground to second base well. Clean exchanges with accurate throws on a line to second base. Run: 7.43 60-yard time.

Body: 5’11’’, 195 pounds. Physical, strong body type. Hit: RHH. Hits from a balanced, slightly crouched, square stance at the plate. Smooth toe-tap load with some hand separation. Medium sized leg kick with quick hands through the zone. Easy swing with strong lower half involvement. Fires back hip well with solid extension through the zone. Strong two handed finish with recoil. Consistent loud contact with a strong middle to pull side approach. Power: 91 mph exit velocity per TrackMan during BP. Present pull side pop with power to the pull side gap. Arm: RH. C - 67 mph. Throws with short arm action from a high three-quarter slot. Defense: Pop times ranged 2.28 - 2.41. High leg kick with an elongated stride. Keeps head down through contact and stays behind the ball well with quick bat speed through the zone. Some lower half involvement and keeps hands inside the ball well with some extension past contact. Gap-to-gap line drive approach with a more level swing path. Finishes strong with two hands and some recoil. Power: 90 mph exit velocity per TrackMan during BP. power present to the gaps and alleys. Arm: RH. C - 73 mph. Throws with short arm action from a high three-quarter slot. Defense: Pop times ranged 1.97 - 2.07. Gets out of crouch quickly and replaces feet well with quick, clean exchanges.
