Unsigned Senior Games Analysis: Pitchers Part 3

On Wednesday August 9, PBR VA/DC hosted the Unsigned Senior Games at Virginia Sports Complex in Central Virginia. Over 60 players from all corners of the Commonwealth showcased in front of college coaches and the PBR VA/DC staff at the event and had their videos and stats taken before taking part in a game. We continue our analysis of the event with our breakdown of the second  portion of the pitchers: 

Brandon Pond Colonial Heights
Pond is 6-2 with an athletic frame, throws from a three-quarters arm slot with a shorter free arm action and normal effort. Shoulders on line and slightly uphill, lands slightly closed with a bit of a fall off finish. Fastball was 77-80 with some late run. Curveball had hard 11/5 break and some armspeed, running 66-68. Threw changeup in warmups with good armspeed and fading action.

Scott Reid RHP Albemarle
Reid is 6-5 with a lankier athletic frame, throws from a lower three-quarters arm slot. Drop and drive delivery, longer loose arm action that is quick, normal effort to delivery. Shoulders uphill and on line, lands slightly closed with a bit of a fall off finish. Fastball was 77-82, touching 84, with downward plane and a bit of late run to it. Showed a change-up in warmups with heavy fade to it. Curveball was 62 with big 11/5 break. Slider was 68 with harder late 11/5 break and some armspeed.

Bryce Ross RHP Woodbridge
Ross is 6-0 with a lanky frame, throws from a three-quarters arm slot, shorter loose arm action, quick arm with normal effort. Shoulders slightly uphill and on line, lands closed with some recoil and an athletic finish. Fastball was 78-82 with some late run to it. Curveball had sharp 11/5 break and was 67-69.

Trevor Saniano RHP Indian River
Saniano is 5-9 with a strong frame and a strong lower half, throws from a three-quarters arm slot with a shorter arm action that is free and quick, normal effort. Shoulders closed and level, lands square with an athletic finish. Fastball had some late run and was 81-84. Change-up was 70 with some armspeed and run to it. Curveball had sharp 10/4 break and good armspeed, running 68.

Michael Sevila RHP Langley
Sevila is 6-0 with a lankier athletic frame, drop and drive delivery, throws from a three-quarters arm slot with short, free delivery, normal effort. Shoulders uphill, lands open with an athletic finish. Fastball was 76-79, touching 80 with sink. Curveball was 65 with gradual 12/6 break. Change-up was 72 with sinking action and some armspeed.

Aaron Torres RHP Cape Henry Collegiate
Torres is 6-0 with an athletic frame, drop and drive delivery and throws from a three-quarters arm slot. Longer arm action that is free, normal effort to his delivery. Shoulders uphill and closed, lands square with an athletic finish. Fastball was 77-80, touching 82, with downward plane and a bit of run to it. Curveball was 71-73 with some late 11/5 break and good armspeed. Showed true slider in warmups that had hard late 10/4 break and good armspeed.

Jonathan Walton RHP Prince George
Walton is 6-1 and has a strong lower half, throws from a three-quarters arm slot with a short, free arm action and normal effort. Shoulders uphill and closed, lands square with an athletic finish and some recoil. Fastball was 77-82 with late run and sink. Slider was 68 with hard 10/4 break and some armspeed. Change-up was 62 with sinking action. Has pitchability and commands fastball/sider combo well.

Ethan Williams RHP Cosby (Harford CC)
Williams is 6-0 and has an athletic frame with a strong lower half. On the mound, throws from a low three-quarters arm slot with a short quick arm action, normal effort. Shoulders slightly closed and level, lands square with an athletic finish. Fastball sat 85-87 with boring action to armside. Change-up was 75-77 with some fade and some armspeed. Curveball had some late 10/4 break and good armspeed, running 76-78.

Cody Willis LHP Powhatan
Willis is 6-2 with a strong lower half, throws from a lower three-quarters arm slot with a short arm action, normal effort to his delivery. Shoulders uphill and slightly closed, lands slightly closed with a fall off finish. Fastball was 80-82 with some late run to it. Curveball had sharp 2/8 break and was 75-77 with some armspeed. Change-up was 77 with sink and some armspeed.
