8.9.17:  Williams is 6-0 and has an athletic frame with a strong lower half. Switch hitter, hits from the right side from a slightly open athletic stance, short stride on line, smooth load back some rhythm to swing. Explosive lower half and some balance to swing. Quick to ball, short path, works uphill with a pull fly ball approach and power, exit velocity was 92. From the left side, open stance, strides slightly closed. Some hip explosion and balance to his swing. Short to ball, works uphill through it with extension, exit velocity was 86. At third, showed a strong arm across the infield at 89. Behind the plate, quick clean exchange, short arm action from a high three-quarters arm slot, position velocity was 80 and pop times were 1.94-2.02, some accuracy to his throws. Ran a 7.25 60 yard dash. On the mound, throws from a low three-quarters arm slot with a short quick arm action, normal effort. Shoulders slightly closed and level, lands square with an athletic finish. Fastball sat 85-87 with boring action to armside. Change-up was 75-77 with some fade and some armspeed. Curveball had some late 10/4 break and good armspeed, running 76-78.

10/10/16 - Big bodied catcher with strong legs.  Wide set-up behind the plate with soft hands and clean transfer.  Arm has carry, and was able to make strong throws to second base from his knees.

10/9/16 - Playing for the Evoshield Canes 17 Gold, uncommitted 2018 C/RHP Ethan Williams (Cosby HS, VA) showed off a strong arm by gunning down a base stealer at second base on a throw from his knees. The 6-foot, 190-pounder has a powerful lower half, and has even been up to 87 on the mound.

9.29.16 - Uncommitted. Has a little longer swing path at the plate with some bat speed. Behind the plate showed nice arm strength getting as low as a 1.96 in between innings…Intriguing prospect on the mound. Slight pause in delivery while gathering momentum. Has a shorter arm action and quick arm speed. Has some lower half usage. Fastball sat 84-87 with later life on the pitch. Showed a breaking ball at 75 mph. but sat mainly fastball.
