Today we take a look into the 2021 class. Below are some of the talents we have had the opportunity to come across who will be freshmen this year to keep an eye on.

Virginia Insider: 2021's

Corey Adams SS / 2B / Clover Hill, VA / 2021

Adams has a lanky frame that is very projectable. Quick feet and hands on the infield, rangy frame could work well in the outfield too. Throws from low three-quarters arm slot. At the plate, hits from open upright stance, short stride staying open. Explosive lower half, some balance to swing, stands up through the ball. Quick to ball, short level line drive swing, lightning fast hands create a fast bat.

Tanner Clements C / 1B / Matoaca, VA / 2021

Clements has an athletic frame and is a natural blocker and receiver behind the plate. Threw a 2.35 in-game throw on the corner of the bag, showed a quick clean release, pop times will improve as arm strengthens. Bat has some quickness and batspeed, has the potential to develop into a very good two-way catcher.

TR Williams LHP / OF / Page County, VA / 2021

Williams has a lanky frame and throws from a low three-quarters arm slot. Short, loose quick arm, generates velocity with normal effort. Shoulders uphill and closed, lands closed with fall off finish, deceptive crossfire delivery. Fastball sat 76-79, touching 80, with a good angle and some late run and sink. Curveball had good armspeed and was 64-70 with sharp late 2/8 break. Changed up delivery to mess with hitters' timing as outing progressed.

Jay Woolfolk SS / RHP / Benedictine, VA / 2021

Woolfolk is a multi-sport athlete who starts at quarterback as a freshman at Benedictine. He has an athletic projectable frame. Very good actions at short, very fast exchange and good hands. Quick feet, throws from a low three-quarters arm slot with an easy loose arm action. At plate, open athletic stance, short stride on line, explosive lower half and some balance to swing. Quick short level swing, uses whole field and showed ability to barrel consistently, power potential. Ran a 4.51 home to first.

Garrett Pancione C / OF / Highland, VA / 2021

9.15.17: Pancione has an athletic frame, did a good job receiving Michel, quiet hands, presents good strike. Shows good lateral blocking ability, kept everything in front. Between inning pop times were 2.28-2.39, clean release, threw with short arm action, accurate throws. At plate, hits from right side, short quick bat, line drive swing with good approach using middle of field, has upside at plate.

7.26.17: Pancione is 5-8 with an athletic frame, he hits from the right side from a slightly open athletic stance. Short stride on line, smooth load back, some rhythm to swing. Explosive lower half and some balance to swing. Quick bat, level line drive swing with extension through the ball. Showed good approach using middle of the field, exit velocity was 76. Behind the plate, gains ground on exchange. Clean exchange, throws from high three-quarters arm slot with a short arm action, pop times 2.18-2.26 with position velocity was 69. Showed some accuracy on throws. Some sway behind plate when receiving.

Christian Martin SS / 2B / Amherst Co., VA / 2021

1.29.17: Martin is 5-7 with an athletic frame and hits from the left side from an open athletic stance. Short leg kick stride on line, no load, good hips and decent balance throughout swing. Short to ball with good extension through it, slightly uphill swing. Pull approach with some bat speed and power potential in the future, exit velocity of 76. At short, good footwork and above average hands, plays through ball well into a clean exchange. Short, quick arm action from a three-quarters arm slot, position velocity was 74. Home to first was 4.58.
