VA/DC State Games
Martin is 5-10 with an athletic frame that has some strength present and plenty of projection left to it. He hits from the left side from a slightly open balanced athletic stance, short stride on line, short smooth load back, quiet relaxed set-up. Hips rotate completely with violence and he maintains good lower half balance. Hands stay inside, short and very quick to the ball, some whip in his bat, uphill swing path, strong at contact with some extension through the ball, showed a pull approach with the ability to use the whole field, gap power present to all fields with potential to still grow into more, exit velocity was 89. In the infield, quick feet, rounds ball and fields with a wider base and soft quick hands, works through the ball to a quick clean exchange, throws from a low three-quarters arm slot, loose arm action. Ran a 6.87 60 yard dash.
Preseason All-State II
Martin is 5-10 with a lankier athletic frame that has plenty of projection left to it. He hits from the left side from a slightly open athletic stance, short stride on line, slight load back, wraps a bit. Hips rotate completely and with violence and he maintains good lower half balance. Keeps hands inside, short and very quick to the ball, whippy bat, slightly uphill line drive swing with strength at contact, exit velocity was 89. In the infield, good feet, rounds the ball and fields with a good wide base and soft hands. Quick clean exchange, throws from a three-quarters slot, velocity was 88. Ran a 4.16 home to first.
Preseason All-State
Martin is 5-10 with an athletic frame that has plenty of projection left to it, he hits from the left side from an open athletic stance. Short stride on line, smooth load back with a wrap, explosive hips with some balance during his swing. Very short to the ball, uphill path with a good extension through the ball and a pull fly ball approach. Power evident to pull side, showed barrel awareness and a whippy bat, exit velocity was 85. On the infield, quick feet, rounds ball and fields with a good wide base. Soft quick hands, quick clean transfer working through the ball, throws from a low three-quarters arm slot with a loose arm action, infield velocity was 83. Ran a 4.10 home to first.
1.29.17: Martin is 5-7 with an athletic frame and hits from the left side from an open athletic stance. Short leg kick stride on line, no load, good hips and decent balance throughout swing. Short to ball with good extension through it, slightly uphill swing. Pull approach with some bat speed and power potential in the future, exit velocity of 76. At short, good footwork and above average hands, plays through ball well into a clean exchange. Short, quick arm action from a three-quarters arm slot, position velocity was 74. Home to first was 4.58.
