On Sunday, October 25, over 190 players from all corners of the Commonwealth and DC descended on Lynchburg to take part in our inaugural VA/DC State Games. Games and workouts were held at two sites, City Stadium and Liberty University, today we highlight a few players who stood out from Teams 3 and 4, the committed players who played the second game at City Stadium:

Team 3

Landon Abrahamson OF Miller School 2022 (Dayton)
Abrahamson had a loud statistical showing in the showcase portion of the day, running 7.02 while hitting 89 from the outfield and putting up a live exit velo of 103. Has the tools to be a good rightfielder and middle of the lineup bat at the next level.

Jason Cheifetz RHP Westfield 2022 (James Madison)
Cheifetz has an athletic frame and got up to 88, working 83-87 on the cold night. Showed feel and command for three offspeed pitches, including two breaking balls with distinctly different action. Still has some left in the tank and has feel for how to pitch.

Henry Cooke C Miller School 2022 (Virginia Tech)
Loud statistical day for the physical catcher. Pop times were 1.86-1.92 with accuracy, 80 on his throw downs. Live exit velo during BP was 97 and he ran a 7.26. Also ripped a double during game at-bat.

Ryan Grzesiak RHP John Champe 2022 (Virginia Tech)
Grzesiak committed in the days leading up to the event and he ended up being the last pitcher to throw, and he might have been the best. Very long lanky frame with a lot of projection left to it. Fastball 86-89, touching 90 and his breaking ball had sharp hard break and a max spin of nearly 2400. He's made a big jump in the last 10 months and there is plenty left in the tank, easy fast arm action, ball explodes out of hand.

Cam Nuckols RHP/1B St. Christopher's 2022 (VCU)
Nuckols has a big physical frame and had a good two-way showing on the day. On the mound, was 82-86, touching 87, and showed feel for three offspeed pitches. At the plate, he showed lots of pull power from the left side.

Griffin O'Ferrall SS St. Christopher's 2021 (Virginia)
O'Ferrall has begun to fill out and has still kept his speed, showing more power than he did in 2019 as he is shaping up to be a 2-3 type hitter at the next level. Ran a 6.79 during the workout and posted a live exit of 96 during BP.

Evan Smith 3B Briar Woods 2021 (West Virginia)
Physical kid that still has projection left to his frame. Hits from the left side with a short fast swing. Works gap to gap and has easy power present to all fields. Ran a 7.00 and is aggressive and smart on the bases as well.

Team 4

Ethan Brooks SS Glen Allen 2022 (VCU)
Brooks has a lankier frame with a lot of projection left to it. Strong showing defensively with quick soft hands and smooth actions. Line drive swing and he showed some feel for the barrel, working primarily gap to gap.

Zackary Chadwell RHP/1B Hickory 2021 (High Point)
Chadwell is another big, physical player. On the mound, was 86-89 with a very heavy fastball, still clearly has velocity in the tank.

Addison Clark OF Carlisle 2021 (VMI)
Clark has a strong frame already but still projects to add more to it. Has a ton of raw power to all fields and tied Abrahamson with the top live exit velo of 103.

Caleb Grizzard OF/LHP Cosby 2022 (Old Dominion)
Grizzard has an athletic frame that still has plenty of projection left to it. He is still very much a two-way prospect for college, but he really showed well at the plate on the day. Still has power to grow into, but a quick simple swing and feel for the barrel were on display, and he has a chance to add plenty more pop as he adds more strength.

Christian Martin SS Amherst County 2021 (Virginia Tech)
Martin continues to fill out his frame and grow into his power. Feel for the barrel and easy doubles power to all fields now with still more to come, he has some speed and athleticism and continues to look like he will be a very good player at the next level.

Jake Moore OF Chatham 2023 (Liberty)
Moore had another strong day to wrap up what has been a strong 2020 for him. Has advanced feel for the barrel and is consistently on it. He will hit at the next level and still projects to add plenty of power as he continues to get stronger as well.

Andrew Shaffner OF/RHP Grayson County 2022 (NC State)
Shaffner is a twitchy athletic with a lanky frame and a lot of projection left to it. Shows power at the plate where his levers generate a lot of juice, exit velocity was 99. His big showing was on the mound, where his fastball ran 87-89 with a high spin rate that got up to 2550. High spin slider as well was 76-78 and hit over 2600 rpms.
