VA/DC Scout Blog

Moore looks to have toned up since we last saw him in October. Hits from a narrow upright setup, hands make quick load, and displays hand and bat speed through the zone. Barrel awareness and high contact rate for the Liberty commit who led the Future Games team in batting average last summer. He had three hits on this day, using primarily the center and backside of the field. At times the swing got a little long, especially early in counts, but made some nice adjustments during at bats to simplify and put the ball in play. The hit tool just continues to stand out for Moore and will only get better with added strength to the athletic frame.

VA/DC State Games

Moore is 6-0 with an athletic frame that has some strength present in the lower half and some projection left to it. He hits from the left side from a tall balanced relaxed stance, low leg kick stride on line, smooth load back. Hips rotate completely with some violence and he maintains good lower half balance. Hands stay inside, short and very quick to the ball, slightly uphill line drive swing path, strong at contact with some extension through the ball, feel for the barrel, showed a good approach using the whole field, doubles power present to all fields with a bit more to pull side, exit velocity was 91. In the outfield, gets body behind the ball and fields through it with above average hands, clean exchange, throws from a three-quarters arm slot, short quick arm action, position velocity was 84. Ran a 7.21 60 yard dash.

PBR Future Games

6-foot, 188-pound solid frame. Moore was one of the most consistent Mid-Atlantic hitters in the lineup. Starts from a slightly narrow athletic stance, hands have rhythm throughout, and uses a simple stride on line getting the foot down consistently on time. For his age Moore possesses advanced feel for the barrel and uses the whole field in approach. We did not see big present power in the swing, but we did see a hitter who consistently hit line drives to the entire field and managed his at bats and counts well. Moore had numerous line drive and ground ball singles through the middle and backside while turning on a few balls to the pull side. Long term Moore more than likely stays corner outfield and first base and is going to hit for high average with some power potential as he continues to grow.
