On Tuesday night, Loudoun County traveled to Kettle Run for a Region 4C semifinal, with a State Tournament bid and a trip to the Region Championship game on the line. The story of the game was junior RHP Joe Vogatsky (JMU), who was dominant on the mound for Kettle Run, tossing a shutout in a 2-0 win.

The biggest threat was in the top of the first inning when Loudoun County loaded the bases with three singles. Vogatsky shut down the rally by striking out the next two batters, tallying three strikeouts total in the first frame. For the next six innings, Vogatsky limited Loudoun County to only one more hit. For the game, Vogatsky pitched a complete game shutout, allowing 4 hits, one walk and eight strikeouts.

Offensively, Kettle Run only managed two hits in the game, an RBI single by Vogatsky and another single by senior Michael Aldrich (Mary Baldwin).

Senior Joe Alexander also had a strong performance on the mound for Loudoun County.  Alexander pitched a complete game, allowing two hits, three walks and one earned run. Loudoun County collected four singles in the game, three of which came in the first inning.

Kettle Run will take on Riverside in the Region 4C Championship, and will also take part in next week's Class 4 State Tournament.
