DoranTurchin (Oak Creek, 2015) is one of the more exciting players to watch on a baseball field. Turchin has been a mainstay in the top ten prospects in Wisconsin’s 2015 class since releasing the rankings. This summer he has emerged as one of the better right handed outfielders in the Midwest. Turchin was named one of the Top Ten Risers from the Midwest Future Games and has certainly caught the attention of many college coaches across the country.
Turchin is one of the most dynamic athletes in the class. The 6-foot, 185-pound outfielder stood out at the Midwest Future Games with his natural athleticism and playmaking abilities. Offensively he showed a naturally powerful stroke as the ball jumps off his bat with little effort. Turchin was solid at the plate recording multiple hits as well as stealing third twice. He clearly shows game changing abilities that will go a long way at the next level. Turchin also shows advanced arm strength in the outfield at 89 mph. He plays through the baseball athletically and shows the foot speed to close down the gaps as well as being a nuisance on the base paths.
Most recently at the Labor Day Challenge Turchin also tried his hand on the mound. We’ve always known he has had advanced arm strength from the outfield and he showed that on the mound as well. Yet to refine an off speed pitch, Turchin threw a lively 85-87 mph fastball while touching 88 mph. Although his calling might not be on the mound, he showed enough athleticism to be serviceable at the next level.
