Early Bird Kelenic Gets The MVP

When it comes to time management and the grind, OF Jarred Kelenic (Waukesha West HS, WI) knows a thing or two. While most people, and probably his classmates, are just waking up and getting their day started, he is already working out, looking to his future in baseball.

“It’s what you’ve gotta do to be the best,” he said.

One of the best Kelenic is. He is verbally committed to Louisville, ranked No. 1 in Prep Baseball Report’s 2018 Overall Rankings and won a gold medal at the Pan Am 18U Championship Games, in which he was named MVP. He hit .407/.500/.741 in eight games with two doubles, two triples, one home run, six runs scored and seven RBIs. With above average speed, power from the left side and a strong arm, Kelenic is naturally gifted, but he has the reputation of being a grinder, a baseball rat. He’s up at 4:30 a.m. and working out by 5:30. In the evenings, he gets his homework done and tries to be in bed at 9 o’clock. His parents instill his work ethic, but he was also inspired by another player known for his relentless desire to be the best.
