Today we continue analysis from the Fox Cities Preseason I.D. showcase with the top infield prospects from the event. Projectable 2020 Gavin Hinckley takes home the top spot, defensively his arm shows carry across the infield at 81 mph and has a line drive approach at the plate.

Top Prospects

1. Gavin Hinckley, RHP/INF, West Bend West, 2020
6-foot, 158-pound two-way player, athletic frame with projectability. Looks to project best on the mound, high ceiling arm. Tall and fall delivery, easy effort, athletic and stays on line, good tempo and rhythm, showed mound presence. Arm action is long and loose, quick arm, high ¾ slot. Fastball has run to arm side, showed control of the zone, sat 81-82 mph. Curveball has 11/5 shape, ranged 61-69 mph, slower velo in the stretch. Changeup is 70-76 mph, arm side run, occasionally pulls, pitch showed best out of the stretch. RIght-handed hitter, slightly open stance, smooth loading action, short stride, timing present, solid balance. Loose hands, quiet and easy swing, line drive gap to gap type, occasional pull. 85 mph exit velocity from the tee. Defensively showed above average actions, short loose arm action, carried at 81 mph across. 7.57 runner in the 60.

2. Frankie Cistaro, SS, Muskego, 2018
6-foot, 175-pound right-handed hitting shortstop. Defensively has a short, loose arm action from a high ¾ arm angle. Showed off raw arm strength across the infield throwing 84 mph. Shuffle and throw with average hands. At the plate hits from a balanced, narrow setup with a short leg lift stride. Short, uphill swing path. Showed strength thru contact with 87 mph exit velocity from a tee. Ran the 60 at 7.26.

3. Stevie Diderrich, C/INF, Oconomowoc, 2018
5-foot-8, 160-pound catcher/infielder, smaller frame with strength. Strong defensively catcher, short over the top arm action, quick release, quick footwork. 77 mph arm strength, 1.94-2.01 pop times. Soft hands and footwork carried over on the infield, plays through the baseball well, athletic actions. Abilities project to play both positions defensively. Right-handed hitter, balanced stance, short lift stride, solid balance through contact. Path is short with bat speed, showed opposite field contact. 91 mph exit velocity from the tee. Ran the 60 at 7.57.

4. Devin Toburen, SS, Greenwood, 2018
6-foot-2, 175-pound right-handed hitting shortstop with a lanky, athletic frame. Offensively hits from a balanced setup with a smooth load and short leg kick stride. Good balance with some explosion in the lower half. Line drive hitter with an uphill swing path and fast bat. Showed strength thru contact with 90 mph exit velocity from a tee. Ran the 60 at 7.35. Defensively has a loose arm action from a high ¾ slot. Plays thru the ball with athletic actions. Throws showed carry across the infield at 84 mph.

5. Nolan Kelliher, SS/RHP, Middleton, 2018
6-foot, 170-pound right-handed hitting SS/RHP. Offensively hits from a balanced setup with a short stride and good balance. Short, uphill swing path with fluid rhythm. Showed strength thru contact with 90 mph exit velocity from a tee. Ran the 60 at 7.09. Defensively has a short arm action from a high ¾ slot. Throws showed carry across the infield at 82 mph. Plays thru the ball with fluid footwork. On the mound works from a high ¾ arm angle with a short arm action. Tall and fall delivery with some effort and an upright finish. Threw fastball for strikes at 78 topping out at 79 mph. Curveball has 12-6 shape with gradual action at 62-66 mph for strikes. Changeup sat 66-70 mph for strikes.

6. Carter Robinson, OF/RHP/SS, Appleton North, 2019
6-foot-1, 185-pound right-handed hitting utility player with a strong frame. Plus runner, running the 60 yard dash at 6.78. Offensively hits from balanced setup with a leg kick stride. Showed strength thru contact with a fast bat. Registered 89 mph exit velocity from a tee. Defensively has a short arm action from an over the top slot. Accurate throws with carry throwing 84 mph from the outfield. Plays through the ball with fluid footwork. Also took drills in the infield, throwing 80 mph across the diamond. On the mound works from an over the top arm angle with a short, loose arm action. Tall and fall delivery with regular effort and a square landing. Fastball was straight at 79-81 mph. Curveball has 12-6 shape at 61-65 mph. Changeup has sinking action at 63-67 mph.

7. Dylan Govin, 3B/RHP, West De Pere, 2018
6-foot-1, 185-pound switch hitting 3B/RHP. At the plate hits from a balanced setup with a toe tap stride and short level swing path. Line drive hitter with a fast bat. Showed strength thru contact from both sides of the plate. 87 mph exit velocity left-handed and 85 mph exit velocity right-handed. Ran the 60 at 7.83. Defensively has a short arm action from a high ¾ slot. Slower actions with fluid footwork, playing thru the ball. Threw 75 mph across the infield. On the mound works from an over the top arm angle with a short arm action. Works exclusively out of the stretch. Fastball sat 75-77 topping out at 79 mph. Curveball has 12-6 shape at 67-69 mph. Changeup has sinking action at 72-74 mph.

8. Jake Hesseling, SS, Janesville Craig, 2019
6-foot, 160-pound right-handed hitting shortstop. At the plate hits from an open setup with a smooth load and leg kick stride with good balance. Line drive hitter with fluid rhythm and an uphill swing path. 80 mph exit velocity from a tee. Ran the 60 at 7.67. Defensively has a short arm action from an over the top slot. Plays thru the ball with a long exchange and soft hands. Threw 79 mph across the infield.

9. Sam Pederson, 3B/RHP, Verona, 2019
6-foot-1, 165-pound right-handed hitting 3B/RHP with a thin, lanky frame. Offensively hits from a narrow, open setup with a leg lift stride. Pull hitter with a short, uphill swing path. Showed strength thru contact with 88 mph exit velocity from a tee. Ran the 60 at 7.58. Defensively has a short arm action from a ¾ slot. Plays thru the ball with fluid footwork. Threw 72 mph across the infield. On the mound works from a high ¾ arm angle with a short arm action. Tall and fall delivery working in line with home plate. Fastball sat 76-78 mph. Curveball has 11-5 shape at 64-68 mph. Changeup sat 65-69 mph.

10. Brady Tatro, OF/1B, Antigo, 2018
6-foot, 190-pound left-handed hitting OF/1B. Offensively hits from a balanced setup with an arm bat load and short stride. Pull, power hitter with an uphill swing path. Showed strength thru contact with 92 mph exit velocity from a tee. Ran the 60 at 7.34. Defensively has a short arm action from an over the top slot. Slower actions, fields the ball deep. Threw 79 mph from the outfield. Took drills at first base and threw 74 mph across the diamond.

Fastball has sinking action at 81-82 mph. Curveball has gradual action at 64-65 mph. Changeup has sinking action at 70-74 mph. Offensively hits from a narrow, open setup. Trey Bretl, RHP/SS, Marinette, 2019

6-foot-3, 175-pound two-way player, projectable frame with length. Right-handed hitter, balanced stance, short toe tap stride. Lower half works linear at times. Path is short, works uphill, hard contact on balls down in the zone. 80 mph exit velocity from the tee. Defensively arm action is short and over the top, 72 mph across the infield. 6-foot-1, 185-pound third baseman, solid build with some strength. Right-handed hitter, balanced stance, short stride. Long uphill path, pull side tendency, 83 mph exit velocity from the tee. Defensively arm played short from a high ¾ slot, 67 mph across the diamond. 7.89 runner in the 60.

Tucker Kohl, C/SS, New London, 2020
5-foot-11, 170-pound catcher, strong athletic build. Right-handed hitter, balanced stance, loads hands back, slight arm bar, short stride. Shows some bat speed for his age, long path on uphill plane, opposite field contact. 77 mph exit velocity from the tee. Defensively arm action is short and over the top, some effort, 66 mph out of the crouch. Solid blocking the baseball, pop times are 2.36-2.45. Also took drills in the infield and threw 64 mph across the diamond.

Cole LaMont, RHP/SS, Adams-Friendship, 2019
5-foot-11, 150-pound right-handed hitting RHP/SS. On the mound works from a high ¾ arm angle with a short arm action and stab on the backside. Tall and fall delivery with a closed landing. Fastball sat 72-73 topping out at 75 mph. Curveball has 11-5 shape and loose rotation at 61-64 mph. Changeup blended with fastball at 71-72 mph. Compact swing, fast bat, short path, opposite field contact in BP. 86 mph exit velocity from the tee. 2.28-2.48 pop times.
