GPA Games: Infield Analysis

The GPA Games took place on Sunday August 13th at Lee Pfund Field in Carol Stream, Illinois. Players took part in a pro style workout and gameplay in front of the PBR Scouting Staff. Today we continue the event analysis with the infield reports.

Top Prospects

1. Nolan Tucker, SS, Hanover Central (IN), 2019
5-foot-8, 145-pound left-handed hitting shortstop. Offensively hits from a tall, narrow, slightly open setup. Long stride with average balance. Pull hitter with a long, uphill swing path, and loose hands, creates whip. 84 mph exit velocity from a tee. Ran the 60 at 7.04. Defensively has a short arm action from a high ¾ slot. Plays thru the ball, good body control, clean exchange. Throws showed carry across the infield at 80 mph.

2. Nathan Ebersole, SS, Whitefish Bay (WI), 2019
Currently ranked No. 62 in the Wisconsin Class of 2019. 5-foot-7, 145-pound right-handed hitting shortstop. Defensively has a short arm action from an over the top slot. Accurate throws across the infield at 75 mph. Athletic actions, plays thru the ball with fluid footwork and soft hands. At the plate hits from a tall, open setup with a short stride and average balance. Line drive, gap to gap hitter. 77 mph exit velocity from a tee. Ran the 60 at 7.33.

3. Kyle Abatto, 2B, Kettle Moraine (WI), 2018
5-foot-7, 160-pound left-handed hitting second baseman. Offensively hits from a tall, balanced setup. Smooth load, short, stride, and good balance. LIne drive hitter with a short, level swing path and fluid rhythm. Opposite field approach in game going 2-for-3. 82 mph exit velocity from a tee. Ran the 60 at 7.36. Defensively has a short arm action from a high ¾ slot. Plays thru the ball with a clean exchange. Threw 67 mph across the infield.

4. Daniel Marrero, SS, University School of Milwaukee, 2018
5-foot-8, 130-pound right-handed hitting shortstop. Defensively has a short, loose arm action from an over the top slot. Athletic actions, plays thru the ball with a quick, clean exchange. Threw 76 mph across the infield. At the plate hits from balanced, open setup. Leg kick stride, average balance. Line drive hitter, middle of the field approach. 76 mph exit velocity from a tee. Ran the 60 at 7.42.

5. Charlie Bischoff, 2B, Plainfield Central, 2019
6-foot, 150-pound right-handed hitting second baseman with a lanky frame. Offensively hits from an open set up, leg kick stride with good balance. Line drive hitter, works gap to gap with fluid rhythm and loose hands. 79 mph exit velocity from a tee. Ran the 60 at 7.63. Defensively has a short arm action from a high ¾ slot. Plays thru the ball, athletic actions. Soft hands with fluid footwork. Threw 75 mph across the infield.

Nick Black, RHP/SS, Geneva, 2019
6-foot-2, 165-pound right-handed hitting RHP/SS with a lanky frame. On the mound works from a high ¾ arm angle with a short, quick arm action. Tall and fall slow paced delivery. Works in line with home plate, regular effort. Fastball has slight running action at 80-82 topping out at 83 mph. Curveball has 11-5 shape at 64-68 mph. Also threw a knuckleball at 69 mph. Struck out one in his inning of work. At the plate hits from a crouched, wide base, heel lift stride, average balance. Gap to gap hitter with an uphill swing path. 83 mph exit velocity from a tee. Ran the 60 at 7.58. Defensively has a long arm action from a ¾ slot. Plays thru the ball with athletic actions. Can play on the run. Threw 77 mph across the infield.

Bjorn Bostrom, 1B, Wheaton North, 2018
6-foot-1, 185-pound right-handed hitting first baseman with a strong frame. Offensively , balanced, slightly closed setup. Short leg lift stride with average balance. Pull hitter with a long, uphill swing path. 86 mph exit velocity from a tee. Ran the 60 at 7.74. Defensively has a short arm action from a high ¾ slot. Threw 73 mph across the infield.

Zachary Carmignani, 3B, Nazareth, 2019
5-foot-9, 197-pound right-handed hitting third baseman with a strong, compact frame. Defensively has a short arm action from an over the top slot. Throws showed carry across the infield at 78 mph. Solid tools to stick on a corner in the infield. Offensively crouched setup, short leg lift stride with average balance. Pull hitter. 81 mph exit velocity from a tee. Ran the 60 at 7.21.

Louis Clay, 3B, Mount Carmel, 2018
5-foot-7, 184-pound right-handed hitting third baseman. At the plate hits from a tall setup, toe tap stride, fair balance. Gap to gap hitter with a long, uphill swing path. 86 mph exit velocity from a tee. Ran the 60 at 7.61. Defensively has a short arm action from an over the top slot. Accurate throws across the infield at 67 mph.

Hunter De La Rosa, RHP/OF/SS, Moline, 2018
5-foot-8, 150-pound right-handed hitting utility player. On the mound works from a high ¾ arm angle with a long arm action. Tall and fall delivery working in line with home plate. Fastball sat 76-78 mph. Calls breaking ball a slider but has curveball action at 70-72 mph. Changeup worked 73 mph. Defensively took drills in the outfield and infield, projects better in outfield. Long arm action from a high ¾ slot. Plays thru the ball, threw 80 mph from the outfield and 78 mph across the infield. At the plate balanced setup, short linear stride. Short, uphill swing path. 85 mph exit velocity from a tee. Moves well, ran the 60 at 7.01.

Spencer Hans, SS, Lake Mills (WI), 2019
5-foot-7, 145-pound right-handed hitting shortstop. Offensively, balanced setup, drop load, short stride. Line drive hitter with a level swing path. 84 mph exit velocity from a tee. Ran the 60 at 7.44. Defensively has a short arm action from a high ¾ slot. Fluid footwork, good body control. Accurate throws across the infield at 75 mph.  

Benton Holly, C/1B, Mundelein, 2018
6-foot-2, 190-pound right-handed hitting C/1B with a strong frame. At the plate hits from an open setup, leg kick stride, average balance. Short, uphill swing path. 84 mph exit velocity from a tee. Ran the 60 at 7.82. Defensively took drills behind the plate and at first. Short arm action from an over the top slot. Clean exchange. Popped 2.25-2.43 and threw 70 mph from the crouch. Threw 71 mph across the infield.

Benjamin Jaynes, 1B, Waubonsie Valley, 2018
6-foot-4, 220-pound right-handed hitting first baseman with a strong frame. Offensively hits from a balanced setup, short heel lift stride. Pull hitter with a long, uphill swing path. Strength thru contact with 90 mph exit velocity from a tee. Ran the 60 at 7.66. Went 1-2 in game with a single. Defensively has a short arm action from an over the top slot. Threw 77 mph across the infield.

Joseph Kaminski, RHP/3B, McHenry, 2019
6-foot-1, 170-pound right-handed hitting RHP/3B with a lanky frame. On the mound works from an over the top arm angle with a short arm action. Tall and fall, slow paced delivery working in line with home plate. Short stride, slide step from stretch. Fastball is straight showing occasional cut at 79-81 mph. Slider has 10-4 shape at 65-67 mph. Curveball has 12-6 shape with gradual action at 61-64 mph. Changeup worked 72 mph. Offensively balanced setup, short stride, sinks into load. Pull hitter with an uphill swing path. 85 mph exit velocity from a tee. Ran the 60 at 7.51. SIngled and walked twice in game. Defensively has a loose arm action from a high ¾ slot. Plays tall. Threw 76 mph across the infield.

Chris Karasinski, SS/C, Glenbrook North, 2019
5-foot-10, 165-pound right-handed hitting SS/C. Defensively has a short arm action from a high ¾ slot. Quick footwork, plays thru the ball, good body control on the run. Threw 76 mph across the infield. Also took drills behind the plate showing a quick exchange, with accurate throws. Popped 2.05-2.12 and threw 74 mph from the crouch. Offensively hits from a balanced setup. Leg lift stride with a long, uphill swing path. Opposite field hitter. 85 mph exit velocity from a tee. Ran the 60 at 7.29.  
Nick Lamoso, 2B, Waubonsie Valley, 2018
5-foot-10, 175-pound right-handed hitting second baseman. Speed is best tool, ran the 60 at 6.94. Offensively hits from a wide base, open setup. Toe tap stride. Line drive hitter, works middle away, long swing path. 83 mph exit velocity from a tee. RBI double in game. On the infield short arm action, ¾ arm slot. Threw 74 mph across the infield.

Sean Rivera, SS, Plainfield East, 2019
6-foot, 165-pound left-handed hitting shortstop with a lanky frame. Defensively has a short arm action from a ¾ slot. Athletic actions with quick footwork, solid on the backhand. Threw 75 mph across the infield. At the plate hits from an open setup, toe tap stride. Pull hitter with a long swing path, and early rhythm. 82 mph exit velocity from a tee. Ran the 60 at 7.28.

Dylan Schick, RHP/SS, Batavia, 2019
6-foot-2, 160-pound right-handed hitting RHP/SS with a lanky, thin frame. On the mound works from an over the top arm angle with a long arm action. Tall and fall delivery, works in line with home plate, regular effort. Fastball sat 78-79 mph. Curveball has 11-5 shape with short breaking action at 67-69 mph. Changeup sat 64 mph. At the plate balanced setup, short heel lift stride, average balance. Pull hitter with an uphill swing path. Went 1-2 with a single in game. 79 mph exit velocity from a tee. Ran the 60 at 7.23. Defensively long arm action, ¾ arm slot. Long release, threw 75 mph across the infield.

Bradley Sigfrids, 1B, Webster (WI), 2019
6-foot-5, 185-pound lanky right-handed hitting first baseman. Offensively hits from an open set up, leg kick stride with good balance. Line drive hitter, loose hands, with fluid rhythm. 86 mph exit velocity from a tee. Ran the 60 at 7.50. Defensively has a long, loose arm action. Long exchange with average hands. Threw 71 mph across the infield.

Nick Skrabis, 3B/RHP, Sandburg, 2019
6-foot, 185-pound left-handed hitting 3B/RHP. Offensively hits from a balanced, open setup. Short, linear stride with average balance. Long, swing path with loose hands. 82 mph exit velocity from a tee. Ran the 60 at 7.72. Defensively has a long arm action from a ¾ slot. Accurate throws across the infield at 80 mph. Plays thru the ball, clean exchange. On the mound works from a high ¾ arm angle with a long, high draw out of the glove. Tall and fall delivery with a slightly closed landing. Retired all four batters he faced in his outing. Fastball sat 76-79 mph. Curveball was effective with sweeping action at 66-68 mph. Changeup worked 71 mph.

Jason Spilko, 2B, Macomb Dakota (MI), 2018
6-foot-1, 170-pound right-handed hitting second baseman. Offensively balanced, slightly open setup. Drop load, fair balance. 83 mph exit velocity from a tee. Ran the 60 at 7.75. Defensively has a long arm action from a low ¾ slot. Plays upright. Threw 71 mph across the infield.

Alex Viglietti, 2B, Elkhart Lake (WI), 2019
5-foot-9, 170-pound right-handed hitting second baseman. Defensively has a short arm action from a high ¾ slot. Accurate throws across the infield. Fluid footwork with solid hands. Threw 74 mph across the infield. At the plate hits from a tall, slightly open setup. Leg lift stride, fair balance. Long, uphill swing path. 81 mph exit velocity from a tee. Ran the 60 at 8.19.

Jonathan Wolf, 3B, Portage Northern (MI), 2018
5-foot-11, 207-pound right-handed hitting third baseman. At the plate, open setup, short even stride. Opposite field hitter with a long swing path. Showed strength thru contact with 91 mph exit velocity from a tee. Ran the 60 at 7.79. Went 1-1 in game with a single and a walk. Defensively has a short arm action from a high ¾ slot. Average hands, threw 79 mph across the infield.

Charles Wood, RHP/3B, Fenwick, 2018
6-foot-4, 200-pound right-handed hitting RHP/3B with a lanky, athletic frame. On the mound works from a high ¾ arm angle with a long arm action. Tall and fall delivery, works down the mound with a square landing. Fastball has slight running action at 80-81 mph. Slider has 10-4 shape at 68-70 mph. Changeup worked 73-75 mph. Offensively hits from a balanced setup, leg lift stride, average balance. Pull hitter with a long, uphill swing path. Showed off pull side power in batting practice. 88 mph exit velocity from a tee. Ran the 60 at 7.28. Defensively has a long arm action from a high ¾ slot. Threw 77 mph across the infield.
