Weather cooperated on Saturday for a full slate of action in the Hitters Spring League. Maroon and Orange locked horns in a pair of pitching duels, while Casey Kempner tossed a no-no for Gold early in the day.

Make sure to check out the Wisconsin Scout Blog for all the scouting notes from around the league.

Here’s a look at all the action.

Gold 4, Green 0

Heartland CC commit, 2016 LHP Casey Kempner (Glenbrook North, IL, 2016), was masterful in his complete game no-hitter of Green. Kempner kept Green off balance all day working seven innings, striking out 15 and walking eight.

Mitchell Mims went 3-for-3 with two RBI to lead the Gold offensive attack.

RHP Kurtis Sippy (Oak Creek, 2016) couldn’t quite match Kempner but struck out 11 in six innings of work.

Orange 2, Maroon 1

In a pitcher’s duel, Orange outlasted Maroon by a score of 2-1. The combination of LHP Joe Kaszubowski (Whitefish Bay, 2015), RHP Jonathan Stiever (Cedarburg, 2015) and RHP Jonathan Keane (Brookfield Central, 2015) shut down the Maroon offense. Stiever got the win and struck out five in three innings, facing the minimum. Keane closed things out for the save working one inning and one strikeout, he also had two hits to lead the offense.

RHP Matt McCarty (South Milwaukee, 2016) struck out three in two innings of work for Maroon.

Purple 11, Black 6

The Purple offense unloaded for 11 runs. Andrew Stekiel led the way with three hits and three RBI. Stekiel also picked up the win on the mound working two innings in relief.

Dominic Rossi was sharp through five innings for Black. Rossi allowed just one earned run and walked one through five innings. Andrew James racked up three RBI for Black.

Green 6, Gold 4

Jacob Beaton did not allow a run over four innings pitched for Green, he struck out five. Michael Pena scored twice and collected two hits while Beaton and Michael Sippy both had two RBI.

Casey Kempner added two hits including a home run and double in the loss.

Orange 2, Maroon 0

In another pitching duel between Orange and Maroon, Xavier commit Mitchel Makarewicz (Oak Creek, 2015) and George Manikas (Joliet Catholic, IL, 2016) combine on the shutout for Orange. Both struck out five and Manikas allowed the only hit of the contest.

Jonathan Keane kept his bat going with two more hits and an RBI for Orange.

Illinois commit Cyrillo Watson (South Milwaukee, 2016) worked all six innings for Maroon on the mound. He struck out seven and allowed just one earned run and six hits.
