Inside The Rankings: Wisconsin 2019s

The 2019 Rankings are getting their summer overhaul, with the Wisconsin state rankings updated last week, and the Overall Rankings updated earlier this week. Today we take a look inside Wisconsin’s 2019 Rankings at some risers and newcomers to the list.

RISERS

We touched on RHP Hunter Rosenbaum’s (Webster) rise to No. 3 in our rankings rollout as he saw a huge spike in velocity this summer and emerged as one of the top arms in the state.

LHP Connor Langreder (West De Pere) moved up into the top 20 after a strong performance at the PBR Future Games. Langreder touched 87 mph with his fastball and showed the ability to sit comfortably at 83-84 mph. At a lean 6-foot, 165 pounds, he works from a long arm action with little effort and showed feel for the zone.

Another significant riser into the top 25 is SS Brent Widder (Sheboygan North). Widder showed high end defensive abilities at shortstop with an athletic bat that produces gap to gap line drives. Widder’s stock is likely to continue to ascend the more his run tool improves.

NEWCOMERS

The top newcomers to the 2019 Rankings are the Lechnir twins, Zach and Drew. As top 15 prospects, we talked at length about their high baseball IQ and leadership qualities on the field. But their pure tools also speak for themselves. Zach is a 6.71 runner with soft hands and efficient actions in the middle of the infield. Drew, a 6.83 runner is a premium defender in centerfield, his jumps are instinctual in the outfield and his left-handed bat sprays the ball to all fields, profiling at the top of a lineup.

LHP Trey Krause (Burlington) is the top new arm to the rankings. Krause has shown a ton of upside on the mound, going back to the spring season where he was one of the Demons top arms as a sophomore posting a sub 1.00 ERA in 33 innings including six starts. Krause has tremendous feel on the mound with a low-mid 80’s fastball and above average secondary stuff.

More new addition to the 2019 Rankings include:

INF Bubba Thompson (Appleton West) - Savvy infielder with feel for the game, competitive at bats.

C Adam Juran (Sauk Prairie) - Premium defender who can really receive and handle a pitcher.

3B Ryan Mazza (Brookfield East) - Solid third base profile with above average run tool.

LHP Jacob Wilde (Waukesha West) - High upside left-handed frame, upper 70’s with feel.

RHP Sam Killian (Independence) - Quick clean arm with upside, 82-83 mph.

RHP Sam Pederson (Verona) - Deceptive RHP with quick arm and lively stuff.

OF Cody Tostrud (Bradford) - All around tool set with left-handed bat.

LHP Jace Kressin (Menomnie) - Raw left-handed pitcher with extremely live arm.

RHP Jason Jennerjohn (Hortonville) - Quick armed RHP up to 85 mph.

SS Jack Bau (New Richmond) - Above average middle infield defender.

1B Will Sprout (Madison Memorial) - Upside left-handed bat with athleticism around the bag.

RHP Jordan Purdy (Kimberly) - Quick arm who pounds the zone, up to 83 mph.
