Future Games Preview: RHP Matt Hamilton

By Steve Nielsen
Scouting Director – Wisconsin/Illinois

The Prep Baseball Report Future Games is a one-of-a-kind event featuring the top 2016 prospects from across our 10 state coverage area. This year taking place at Grand Park in Westfield, IN from July 31-August 2, hundreds of scouts from across the country will fill the stands to watch some of the top uncommitted 2016 prospects across our coverage area.

Last year Wisconsin’s Class of 2015 Future Games Team went undefeated and has already seen eight Division 1 commitments from that roster. Over the next several months we will begin to unveil prospects as they meticulously get selected and register to participate in this year's event; including a brief history and bio of the player and what we can expect from him at the PBR Future Games.

Name: Matt HamiltonMatt Hamilton
High School: Oak Creek
Graduating Class: 2016
Position: RHP
Height: 6-2
Weight: 190

Rank
State: 7
Overall: 44

Matt Hamilton is a hard throwing RHP from perennial powerhouse Oak Creek HS. Last year’s Future Games team featured two Oak Creek Knights with RHP Mitchell Makarewicz and OF Doran Turchin. Makarewicz and Turchin showed well last year and have both made Division 1 commitments to Xavier and Illinois respectively.

Hamilton caught our attention at the Milwaukee Preseason I.D. where he sat 85-86 mph with ease, touching 88 mph. His fastball features heavy feel and shows and advanced feel for the zone at his age. His changeup is highly aggressive and has a high level potential. Ranging at 79-82 mph his changeup compares to most sophomore’s fastball.

Hamilton will most likely be on the short list of players to watch this year at the Future Games as he has a big arm with a high ceiling.
