Prep Baseball Report's MN Winter Open event took place on Saturday, March 10, 2018. The event was held at Starters Sports Training in Shakopee, MN. The event featured prospects from the 2018, 2019, 2020 and 2021 classes who showcased their talents in front of our scouting staff.

outfieldER EVALUATIONS

Charlie Eldredge, OF, Elk River, 2019
5-foot-10, 160-pound right-handed hitting outfielder. 4.62 home-to-first time. Slight body load, quiet actions, consistently barrels baseball, shows balance in swing, spray contact with gap to gap approach, 84 mph exit velocity. Athletic in field, aggressive routes with good footwork, works through ball, quick release with accuracy to target, 83 mph arm from outfield. Interesting 2019 with continued maturity and strength gains.

Dillon Hanson, SS, Bloomington Jefferson, 2021
5-foot-8, 160-pound right-handed hitting shortstop. 5.02 home-to-first time. Open stance, rolls into load, long stride, aggressive swinger, big movements in box, produces above avg. pop in bat for age, gap to gap hitter, 82 mph exit velocity. Taller fielding position, tends to field underneath, solid defender that makes routine plays, 69 mph arm across infield. Fields flat-footed, upright on throws, avg. accuracy with short arm action, 73 mph arm from outfield.

David Janssen, LHP/OF, Centennial, 2020
5-foot-9, 140-pound left-handed hitting 2-way player. 4.58 home-to-first time. Open stance, quiet actions, strides to square, consistently barrels baseball, line drive hitter, gap to gap approach, 72 mph exit velocity. Avg/solid actions in field, works through ball, low ¾ arm slot, avg. accuracy and lacks carry to target, 74 mph arm from outfield.

Wesley Kemming, RHP/OF, Lakeville North, 2019
6-foot, 170-pound right-handed hitting 2-way player. 4.75 home-to-first time. Tall stance, body load, clean path to contact, spray contact across field, inconsistent timing/contact with barrel, 78 mph exit velocity. Athletic arm action, avg. fielder, tends to field with 2 hands, carry to target, 83 mph arm from outfield.

Justin Kloster, OF/LHP, Minnetonka, 2019
5-foot-8, 165-pound left-handed hitting 2-way player. 4.69 home-to-first time. Square stance, solid present strength, hitchy swing, tends to roll hands early through contact, gap to gap hitter with spray contact, 81 mph exit velocity. Aggressive routes, large crow hop on throws, solid accuracy, tends to field on side of ball occasionally, 80 mph arm from outfield.

Jacob Knutson, OF, Chaska, 2020
5-foot-9, 145-pound right-handed hitting outfielder. 4.71 home-to-first time. Balanced stance, collapse in stride- changes eye level and effects timing, flashes bat speed, line drive swing plane, gap to gap approach, 78 mph exit velocity. Active feet with good routes to baseball, exaggerated crow hop, loses momentum, avg. arm with solid accuracy to target, 74 mph arm from outfield.

TJ Martin, LHP/OF, Holy Angels, 2019
6-foot-5, 180-pound left-handed hitting 2-way player. Tall lanky frame. 5.02 home-to-first time. Cocks back elbow to load, hook/pull contact, flashes occasional pop in bat with long levers, pull approach with fly ball contact, 83 mph exit velocity. Easy actions and looks athletic for size, avg. quickness, works through ball, tends to shorten arm on release, solid accuracy to target, 77 mph arm from outfield.

Isaac Rios, RHP/OF, Superior (WI), 2019
6-foot, 165-pound right-handed hitting 2-way player. 4.6 home-to-first time. Open stance, heavy shoulder load, inverted swing plane, choppy rhythm in swing, mid/pull approach with line drive contact, 82 mph exit velocity. Shows quick feet, avg. overall fielding actions, above avg. arm with carry and accuracy to target, 86 mph arm from outfield.

Soren Roe, OF, Blake School, 2018
6-foot, 180-pound right-handed hitting outfielder. One of better uncommitted players in state. 4.47 runner home-to-first. Body load, double tap trigger, shows rhythm in swing with loose hands, gap to gap approach with hard line drive contact, 92 mph exit velocity. Athletic in field with good actions, long strides and moves with ease, solid accuracy on throws and arm should continue to develop strength and carry in college. 83 mph arm from outfield.

Drew Schmidt, OF, Edina, 2019
6-foot, 195-pound right-handed hitting outfielder. 4.53 home-to-first time. Open stance, good present strength, shoulder load and strides square, flat bat path producing hard line drive contact, uses both gaps, 90 mph exit velocity. Left-fielder in college, solid fielder, heavier feet, works through baseball, avg. accuracy and carry on throws, 81 mph arm from outfield.

Jack Sievers, OF, Shakopee, 2018
5-foot-8, 175-pound right-handed hitting outfielder. Highest ranked uncommitted outfielder in state. 4.5 home-to-first time. Body load, aggressive swinger, little wasted movement, routinely squares baseball with mid/pull approach, shows solid pop in bat to pull side of field, 89 mph exit velocity. Shows footwork in field with ability to defend, confident defensively with aggressive routes, plays through ball well, accuracy on throws with solid carry to target, 89 mph arm from outfield.

Casey Trapp, LHP/OF, Centennial, 2019
5-foot-9, 155-pound left-handed hitting 2-way player. 4.62 home-to-first time. Open stance, body load, hitchy swing, spray contact, gap to gap approach, 77 mph exit velocity. Aggressive routes, fields on side of ball occasionally, avg. direction on throws, avg. accuracy and carry to target, 78 mph arm from outfield.

Hunter Wehling, OF, Minnetonka, 2019
6-foot-1, 198-pound left-handed hitting outfielder. 4.39 home-to-first time.
