PBR Wisconsin Player of the Week: INF Brock Lulewicz

By: Diego Solares
Associate Scout, Staff Writer

Since we first saw him back in 2019 as a seventh grader, INF Brock Lulewicz (Muskego) has been one of the state’s top prospects in the 2024 class. He was a standout at The Rock as an eighth grader in 2020 and earned a starting spot as a freshman and all-conference honors for a Warriors team that was consistently inside the top-10 of our Power 25 rankings last spring.

Lulewicz’s role with Muskego has expanded early into his sophomore campaign, especially with the Warriors graduating several key pieces from last year’s 21-3 team. He’s moved up to a top-of-the-order spot in the lineup and, in the early goings, has proven to be arguably Muskego’s most productive hitter.

The Warriors went 3-0 last week, largely in part to what their sophomore standout did at the plate. They opened the week with a 15-0 victory over Whitnall, where Lulewicz went 2-for-3 at the dish, driving in three runs and scoring twice, including a home run to right field in the top of the third inning.

A much closer contest between Muskego and Germantown took place last Thursday, where the Warriors rallied to score seven runs in the top of the seventh inning and eventually secure a 13-10 win. The dagger, and what ultimately gave them the late lead, was a grand slam from Lulewicz to right field with two outs. He would finish the day with three hits in total, including a triple earlier in the game, five RBIs, and three runs scored.

Lulewicz struck again at The Rock on Saturday, helping the Warriors defeat a quality Medford team that’s ranked No. 22 in our Power 25 rankings. Muskego scored four and two runs, respectively, in the sixth and seventh innings of this game, holding off a Medford rally for a 7-6 win. Lulewicz ignited the Warriors’ offense in the sixth, jumping all over the first pitch he saw for a leadoff blast to center field. He delivered again in the seventh, singling home a run on a ground ball to right field to give the Warriors a cushion that eventually proved pivotal to their victory. He finished the game a perfect 4-for-4 with a triple, home run, two singles, two RBIs, and three runs scored.

Lulewicz finished the week 9-for-12 in Muskego’s three games, tripling twice and homering three times. He brought 10 runs home in total and scored eight of his own, swiping three bags in the process. The uncommitted sophomore did all of this while hitting at the top of Muskego’s lineup and serving as their starting shortstop.

Prior to seeing him at The Rock last weekend, our staff got an up-close look at Lulewicz in the Warriors’ season opener against Greendale. He earned a mention in our initial ‘Scout Blog’ post, with our scouts having this to say:

Brock Lulewicz 3B / SS / Muskego, WI / 2024

“6-foot, 180-pound lanky, high-waisted frame with room to add strength; left-handed hitter. Currently one of the top prospects in the state’s sophomore class and ranked nationally, too. Started at shortstop and hit in the two-hole for Muskego. Quiet balanced setup in the box, slight pre-pitch hand rhythm, loads in rhythm with a slight hand raise, short stride to front footstrike. Took a handful of quality at-bats. Started the game off with a walk and fouled off multiple pitches in his second at-bat before slapping a bases-clearing double the other way. Just missed another extra-base hit in his third time at the plate, barely missing the barrel on an elevated curveball. Advanced defender on the infield. Helped turn two key double plays for the Warriors and made an athletic run through play late in the game. Vocal leader, active at all times and has a captain-esque makeup. High-follow uncommitted prospect in the state’s 2024 class.

For his efforts, Voit has been named the PBR Wisconsin Player of the Week, for the first two weeks of WIAA action, ranging from Monday, April 11 to Sunday, April 17. We're thankful for the POTW submissions we received from the coaches across the state. The players who garnered POTW consideration will earn a place within Friday's Diamond Notes story, so be on the lookout for that by the end of this week.
