Preseason Power 25 Countdown: No. 13 DeForest

The Wisconsin high school season kicks off on March 29, the first day for regular season games. Most teams will begin practicing on March 21, getting their rosters set and finalizing their lineups.

Over the next several weeks, leading up to opening day, we will be rolling out team previews of high school teams all across the state and across all classifications, eventually launching our Preseason Power 25.

We have been sending out our annual Preseason Questionnaire to coaches all across the state and as the responses flood in we will bring you a snapshot of what to expect along with top players and keys to success for that particular team. STAT RAT
.58: ERA staff ace Alex Olver had last season. Olver went 6-2 last year and leads a veteran staff again this season with three seniors set to take on a brunt of the innings.

OUTLOOK
DeForest returns a wealth of talent from last season's Badger North and Regional Champion teams. UW-LaCrosse commit Alex Olver, along with Dryden Van Schoyck are coming off all-district type seasons, honorable mention and second-team, respectively. Van Schoyck hit .463 last season. Four first-team all-conference selections return in 2016, catcher Logan Michaels and third baseman Justin Wentland both return for their senior year along side Olver and Van Schoyck to give the Norskies a formidable lineup with seven returning starters. Look for the Norskies to contend for a Badger North title again and this year a better chance at heading to Appleton.
