Preseason Power 25 Countdown: No. 23 Waterford

The Wisconsin high school season kicks off on March 29, the first day for regular season games. Most teams will begin practicing on March 21, getting their rosters set and finalizing their lineups.

Over the next several weeks, leading up to opening day, we will be rolling out team previews of high school teams all across the state and across all classifications, eventually launching our Preseason Power 25.

We have been sending out our annual Preseason Questionnaire to coaches all across the state and as the responses flood in we will bring you a snapshot of what to expect along with top players and keys to success for that particular team. If you don’t see your team’s season preview make sure your head coach fills out his Preseason Questionnaire.

X-FACTOR
Senior offensive threats. Waterford returns five seniors to the lineup that hit over .300 in 2015, leading them to a Southern Lakes conference title.

STAT RAT
2011: The year the last time the Wolverines have won a WIAA playoff game. This will be a big goal for Waterford Union in 2016 with a wealth of returners they can count on.

OUTLOOK
The Wolverines will have the talent back to challenge again for the Southern Lakes crown. A deep lineup with six .300 hitters returning and an 8-2 record on the mound split between three arms gives Waterford Union an upper hand on the competition. Coach Bestland and his staff will have their work cut out for them, we should see an improved Southern Lakes conference in 2016 with Wilmot and Burlington poised to improve along with a steady Westosha Central.

If you are a high school coach and have yet to send in your Preseason Questionnaire please fill one out HERE.
