The Wisconsin high school season kicks off on March 31, the first day for regular season games. Most teams will begin practicing on March 23, getting their rosters set and finalizing their lineups.

Throughout the month of March we will be counting down our Preseason Power 25 Team Rankings leading up to the No. 1 team right before opening day.

No. 9 Oshkosh North

2014 Record: 21-4
WIAA Classification: 1
Conference:
Fox Valley Association
Head Coach:
Troy Schaefer
2014 Playoff Run:
Sectional Finals

TOP PLAYERS

Alex Hintze, LHP, 2015 (Connecticut)
Sam Hawley, C, 2015
Brandon Schroeder, SS, 2015
Will Clark, RHP, 2015
Aaron Roth, LHP, 2015
Ben Bathke, OF/3B, 2015

STAT RAT

Alex Hintze set the FVA single season record for strikeouts in a season with 95 last year. The senior southpaw went 9-2 with a 1.57 ERA and third team all-state honors. Oh yeah, and he hit .429 for the Spartans as well.

OUTLOOK

The Spartans are poised to have a break out year. Coming painful close to a trip to Appleton in 2014 Oshkosh North returns to the diamond in 2015 with nearly a full cast of returners, and good ones at that. Connecticut commit Alex Hintze will lead the way on the mound with his upper 80’s fastball and swing and miss curveball. Brandon Schroeder and Sam Hawley both return coming off seasons where they hit over .400. The staff of Hintze, Clark and Roth return for their final campaigns as the trio combined for a 15-3 record and all three posted ERA’s south of 2.00. North will again be in contention for the tough FVA title and have all the pieces to make a run at state. If Coach Schaefer and the Spartans can push the right buttons in 2015 they could find themselves on the big stage in Appleton come June.
