Projectable righty Jarod Richter looking forward to scheduling visits

By Steve Nielsen
Scouting Director – Illinois/Wisconsin

One of the more projectable right handed pitchers in the state very well could be Jarod Richter (Rosholt, 2014). Richter is 6-foot-3, 160-pounds and shows a clean arm action that works quickly and athletically.

We saw Richter at the beginning of the summer with an 80-81 mph fastball coupled with a 70-71 mph curveball. Richter showed advanced athleticism off the mound while working downhill with his loose arm action.

Richter has said he has been getting interest from multiple colleges of late.

“Hamline has expressed a lot of interest, also St. Mary's, Carthage, Kansas State, Brown, Wartburg, South Dakota State and Alabama State along with others”, said Richter.

Although he has yet to make any visits he is looking forward to start scheduling visits and narrowing down his decision.

Richter continued to talk about what he is looking for at the next level.

“I really like the Midwest and I would like to go for a marketing business major. I also would like to join a competitive school and contribute right away to the baseball program.”

Richter had a successful spring in 2013. Rosholt finished the year 19-2, losing in the sectionals. According to Richter, he was 6-0 with a 1.04 ERA, including his first 19 innings pitched were hitless. He also struck out 72 in 33 2/3 innings pitched.

For 2014 Richter said,

“My  number one goal for my senior season is definitely a State Championship. I also have some minor goals for myself; keeping my ERA under 0.50 and to be in the top 10 in the state in innings pitched and strikeouts.”

Richter is also a three sport athlete playing football, basketball, and baseball.

He’s getting it done in the classroom as well, Richter said,

“I earned a 24 on my ACT the first time around and I will be taking it again in October. My GPA is a 3.6.”
