Stock Report: 2014 OF Connor Rolain

Steve Nielsen
Scouting Director - Wisconsin

Today's Stock Report features No. 2 prospect in the Class of 2014, Connor Rolain. Rolain is a physical presence who shows an advanced approach at the plate. Recently, the Appleton North product has been making the switch from infielder to outfielder. We have seen his 60 time improve to a 7.01 and is starting to get the fell for running correct routes and playing through the baseball defensively.

In 2012, Rolain was an All-State honorable mention as just a sophomore as he hit .421 for the Lightning.

The 6-foot, 190-pound Rolain does everything well. But what earned him one of the top prospects in the state was his prowess at the plate. Rolain has an advanced approach, one that is relaxed, compact and explosive. He showed advanced rhythm throughout his easy swing, and the ball jumped off his bat with loft and carry. Rolain showed excellent bat control, highlighted by the fact that he barreled balls to all fields. He remains balanced throughout his swing, and gets good extension after contact.

Defensively, we are seeing Rolain make stride as a corner outfielder. With added repetitions and a full season ahead of him we should see vast improvements in his outfield play.
