Top-10 Profiles of 2019: No. 2 A.J. Vukovich
December 31, 2019
A.J. Vukovich (East Troy; Louisville commit) has been practically stapled to the top of the state’s 2020 board and he continued to make his presence known on a national level in 2019. He made it to the finals of the MLB’s High School Home Run Derby event that took place during the All-Star break at Progressive Field in Cleveland. His runner-up finish at the derby was actually our No. 9 story on our countdown but it obviously helped him generate some attention to his personal PBR profile, where he comes in ranked No. 2 in 2019.
Beyond his real right-handed pop, some of the country’s best, he moves pretty well and could fit into a corner role of some kind – if not third base, left or first make some sense. Either way, he’s a lanky 6-foot-5 with long levers and he uses it exceptionally well to flick his wrists to produce easy power.
His power has him as the top-ranked prospect in the state’s senior class and he’s ranked No. 55 nationally and is the No. 118 prospect on the PBR Draft Board.

Scouting Report
Louisville commit. Vukovich earned some national headlines this summer for harnessing some of the best right-handed power of any prep prospect in the country. That pop was on display in Hitters Navy's contest against Wisconsin Impact on Saturday afternoon, when Vukovich turned around an 0-2 fastball on the outer half and casually smashed it over the right field fence for a grand slam.
