Today’s unsigned senior spotlight is on Chaz Schmidt. Schmidt is a left-handed pitcher out of Wilmot HS. This Class of 2013 graduate is coming off of a stellar junior year on the mound. Schmidt was undefeated on the hill posting a 7-0 record over 8 starts. The Panther lefty recorded a 1.88 ERA over 48 1/3 innings pitched.

Schmidt is a lanky lefty at 6-foot-3, 165-pounds he exhibits a clean arm action delivering the baseball from a ¾ arm slot. His long, lean build and balanced repeatable delivery makes him very projectable. His fastball shows good movement possessing aggressive sink down in the zone. Schmidt’s changeup showed excellent action with sink, his loose arm action on this pitch adds deception as delivery and arm speed are on fastball tempo. He also throws an 11/5 curveball displaying some good sweeping action through the zone.

Chaz Schmidt will be a sought after left-handed pitcher as he hopes to pick up where he left off on his unblemished record of a year ago.
