This year’s Western Wisconsin Prospect I.D. brought several of the area’s top players to Carson Park in Eau Claire, WI. OF Zach Gilles (McDonnell Central, 2016) showed off his blazing speed posting the top 60 time at 6.66. Gilles speed translates well to the baseball field and will be representing Wisconsin at the Future Games next week. Another Future Game prospect, Adam LaRock (Eau Claire North, 2016) showed a high level skill set with premier tools around the field. LaRock ran a 6.74, was 86 mph across the diamond and the switch hitter posted an 89 mph exit velocity from the tee.
Gannon Goldensoph (Oak Creek, 2016) posted the top pop time at 2.10 followed closely by Hayden Houts (Owen-Withee, 2015) at 2.12.
The strongest arm on the mound goes to 2017 graduate RHP Austin Braund (Holmen) who topped out at 81 mph on the mound. His 6-foot-5 200-pound frame is prototypical of a pitcher that should see added velocity down the road. Braund’s teammate Hunter DeSmet (Holmen, 2017) showed arm strength as well topping out at 80 mph. Porter Sartor (Fairbault, MN, 2015) also touched the 80 mph mark.
