Although high school baseball still has a couple weeks until opening day in Wisconsin, Division 1 colleges across the country are getting into their conference season and we thought we would take a look at some of Wisconsin’s 2013 graduates having success at the Division 1 level.

Wisconsin’s No. 1 ranked player in the 2013 class was Jacob Sparger (Eau Claire Memorial), and the 6-foot-5 RHP is proving why for the No.13 ranked Louisville Cardinals. Sparger has made seven appearances for the Cardinals four of which have been starts. Although picking up the loss, Sparger was the Louisville Sunday starter in their conference opening series against Rutgers. Sparger has a 2.96 ERA and a 2-1 record over 27 innings pitched.

Having the biggest impact so far at the Division 1 level is Ball State freshman Alex Call (River Falls). Call has started all 20 games for the Cardinals locking down the centerfield and leadoff spot. Call is leading the team in hitting with a whopping .356 average. His on base percentage also ranks near the top at .420 while hitting six doubles and 12 RBI.

Arkansas’ Clark Eagan (Appleton North) is getting his feet wet early as the freshman has started in 10 games and hitting .293 for the Razorbacks. In 41 at bats Eagan has racked up 12 hits and scored seven runs. Eagan has been doing most of his damage recently in the loaded SEC playing a corner outfield spot and hitting .278 while starting in five of the six Razorback conference game.

Illinois-Chicago freshman Brett Krause (Menomonee Falls) has also been contributing early in his collegiate career. Krause is currently hitting .294 in 17 at bats with the Flames. Krause has seen action in eight games and started four.

Jacksonville freshman Nathan Disch (Appleton West) has made 12 appearances out of the bullpen for the Dolphins. Currently posting a 5.23 ERA, Disch has a struck out 13 in 10.1 innings pitched.
