Wisconsin 2018 Rankings Updated

By Steve Nielsen
Scouting Supervisor – Wisconsin/Illinois

Similar to the 2017 Rankings update, the 2018 class has little movement in the top ten. Jarred Kelenic (Waukesha West) continues to lead the state as well as the country. With new overall rankings on the horizon its likely Kelenic will remain the top prospect in the country as well.

Behind Kelenic, Alex Binelas (Oak Creek) moves up to the No. 2 spot. Binelas solidified himself as the top left-handed bat behind Kelenic in the state. He showed on several occasions all fall that he has the ability to be a middle of the lineup bat at the next level.

RHP Dillon Nowicki (Stoughton) also had an impressive fall. His command has improved and arm is extremely live moving him up to No. 3.

3 Dillon Nowicki WI Stoughton 2018 RHP Michigan

10 Gunner Peterson WI Wilmot 2018 OF Illinois State

Rounding out the top five, Jeff Holtz (Arrowhead) and Max Alba (Franklin) both had visions of quarterbacking their respective schools to a state championship this fall. Unfortunately Holtz broke his left collarbone in game one and missed the rest of the season while Alba came up one half short of leading the Sabres to a state title over powerhouse Kimberly.

The fall update of the 2018 rankings added several prospects to the list, expanding from 80 to 90 with 11 new additions. Later in the week we will visit some of the biggest riser and up and comers in Wisconsin’s junior class.
