Wisconsin Class of 2016 Rankings Updated

By Steve Nielsen
Scouting Director – Illinois/Wisconsin

The Class of 2016 in Wisconsin is one of the strongest classes we’ve seen in the state in a long time. It features high end talent along with plenty of depth. Three prospects in the 2016 class have already made college commitments, which is nearly unheard of in the Badger state (Justin Lavey – Louisville, Gavin Lux – Virginia Tech and Cyrillo Watson – Illinois).

In the updated 2016 rankings we’ve added 10 players to the mix. RHP Nathan Brown (Arrowhead) is the highest addition to the list as the 6-foot-2, 175-pounder showed exceptional feel on the mound with advanced action on his fastball and changeup. Another Arrowhead HS prospect was added to the top 10 as well, RHP Ryan Schmitt has a quick arm topping out at 84 mph and flashing a sharp 12/6 curveball. OF Matt DeYoung is the top position player added to the rankings at No. 11. DeYoung has advanced bat speed from the left side and is highly athletic with a ton of upside. He is a physical 6-foot-4, 195-pound outfielder with coveted left handed power potential.

Here’s a look at the top ten prospects in the Class of 2016.
