Wisconsin holds own in 2017 Overall Rankings

By Steve Nielsen

This week the Prep Baseball Report launched our 2017 Overall Player Rankings earlier this week. This update includes Florida, Louisiana and Maryland which brings several more prospects into the mix. For more on the 2017 Overall Rankings read Executive Director, Sean Duncan’s overview of the updated rankings HERE.

Sticking with Wisconsin, five of the top prospects in the state made the cut. LHP Augie Mihlbauer (Mukwonago) made the biggest leap in the overall rankings climbing over 40 spots into the top 40. Mihlbauer leapfrogged the class with his recent outing at the Madison Preseason ID. He’s always been high on our radar but showed advanced velocity that we didn’t think we would see this early. Sitting 87-88 mph and touching 89 mph Mihlbauer looks to be one of the premier LHP’s in the class.

LHP Ben Dragani (Catholic Memorial) held his own in the top 50. Even with all the new additions Dragani held steady in the top 50. He has molded his 78-79 mph slider into a plus pitch for his age and shows one of the best three pitch mixes in the class.

Oklahoma commit Anthony Schlass (West Bend West), RHP Jacob Lindemann (Burlington) and C Jamie DeWitt (Waukesha South) also made the top 150. Stayed tuned for updated 2017 state rankings in Wisconsin as well as launching the overall 2018 rankings in the near future.
