Wisconsin's Recruiting Roundup: Week of 10/26

Today, we’ll address all the Wisconsin prospects who made the decision to announce their commitment throughout this past week. We wrapped up our final showcase of 2018 last weekend, so as we head into the fall and winter offseason, now’s the time when recruiting season picks up. This past week was a busy one for commitments, so let’s begin.

2019 COMMITS

Adrian Montilva LHP / Madison East, WI / 2019

7/24/18 - Ranked No. 27 in his state’s 2019 class. 5-foot-9, 170-pound, left-handed pitcher, athleticism in frame translate to delivery on the mound. Pitches with composure, compact balance point, leads with the hip and gets extension down the mound, high front side, works in-line, lands square, super athletic finish. Hands break late, long arm swing, quick arm speed out front, over the top slot, pulls down. Fastball worked straight, jumped out of the hand, topped 87 mph, sat 85-86 mph. Curveball, tight 1/7 shape, flashed sharp break down with arm speed, 72-74 mph.

9/23/18 - Ranked No. 98 in his state’s 2019 class. 6-foot-3, 205-pound corner infielder with strong, athletic frame. Right-handed hitter, balanced/tall stance, open setup, long leg kick stride. Short, uphill bat path, uses present strength to create hard line-drive contact, 94 mph exit velocity. Defensively, right-handed, athleticism plays at first. Feel for the bag, quick footwork, 81 mph throws to third. 7.28 runner in the 60.

2/25/18 - Ranked No. 18 in his state’s 2020 class. 6-foot-1, 165-pound shortstop, lean athletic frame. Plus-plus runner for age, 6.68 in the 60, live quick twitch type athlete. Defensively actions play with bounce and tempo, plays through the baseball, feet stay light, soft and quick hands show ability to cushion and get rid of the baseball. Arm action is short and over the top, 83 mph across the diamond. Right-handed hitter, balanced, hitterish setup, short stride, simple pre-pitch, quiet through finish. Path is short to the baseball level and repeats at contact. Line drive pull side contact. 89 mph exit velocity from the tee.

EVANSVILLE

8/9/18 - Ranked No. 30 in his state’s 2020 class. 5-foot-10, 180-pound, right-handed hitting infielder, well-proportioned, athletic build, strength in frame. Present foot speed, 6.92 runner in the 60. Defensively, fluid feet, hands work, plays through the baseball, clean exchange, pats glove. Arm plays short and loose, quick arm speed, athletic ¾ to high ¾ slot, accurate throws carried 84 mph across the diamond. At the plate, wide setup, drop load, short stride. Strong hands, long, uphill bat path, flashed quick twitch in swing, ability to lift to both gaps, rhythm involved. Quick bat speed, exit velocity topped 92 mph from a tee. Legged out an infield single in-game, 4.29 down the line, plays hard.
