On Oct. 6, the PB Wisconsin scouting staff traveled to STIKS Academy in Waukesha, Wis., to host the annual Southern Wisconsin Fall ID event. This open showcase helped introduce us to some need-to-know players in the state that we’d not yet seen before, as well as provided us with updated looks at players who’ve earned our attention in the past.

Below is a look at all of the position players from the event with a few standouts that deserve a mention.

TOP POSITION PLAYERS

1. Wes DuCharme, Waunakee (WI), 2027
Positional Profile: OF/RHP
Body: 6-3, 157.6-pounds. Long levers, wiry, very projectable.
Hit: LHH. Stock set up, early toe tap, into strong hitting position on time. Bat speed through the ball, short and compact, leverage downhill, ball jumps to all fields. 68.3 mph bat speed with 9 G’s of rotational acceleration.
Power: 92 max exit velocity, averaged 85.7 mph. 271’ max distance.
Arm: RH. OF - 87 mph. 3/4 slot, quick arm, very good carry and accuracy through the plate.
Defense: Shuffle step with good direction to home.

2. Maddex Welzien, West Bend West (WI), 2028
Positional Profile: SS/RHP
Body: 5-11, 145-pounds. Wiry with projection, athletic.
Hit: RHH. Upright, relaxed, early toe down, gets into strong hitting position on time. Downhill through the ball, natural feel for the barrel, ball jumps when barrelled, hitterish look to operation. 63.2 mph bat speed with 8 G’s of rotational acceleration.
Power: 84 max exit velocity, averaged 75.4 mph. 279’ max distance.
Arm: RH. INF - 73 mph. 3/4 slot with carry and accuracy.
Defense: Smooth mover, soft hands, quick first step, quality actions, can stick on left side.

3. Bradley McCarthy, Badger (WI), 2026
Positional Profile: RHP/SS
Body: 6-1, 180-pounds. Athletic build with more projection coming.
Hit: RHH. Narrow and open set up, early toe tap back, lands centered and on time. Hand and bat speed through the hitting zone, ball jumps off the bat with line drive approach, can drive it to both gaps. 70.7 mph bat speed with 11 G’s of rotational acceleration.
Power: 91 max exit velocity, averaged 84 mph. 293’ max distance.
Arm: RH. INF - 82 mph. Quick arm, 3/4 slot with carry through the target.
Defense: Two hand gather under midline with good direction to first, softness to hands.

4. Samuel Ortiz, Franklin (WI), 2026
Positional Profile: SS
Body: 6-3, 176-pounds. Long levers, athletic and projectable.
Hit: RHH. Wide base, athletic set up, gets to strong hitting position on time. Leverages the ball out front and drives it through both gaps, ball jumps, hitterish look. 65.1 mph bat speed with 9 G’s of rotational acceleration.
Power: 88 max exit velocity, averaged 74.1 mph. 323’ max distance.

5. Isaiah Coleman, Nathan Hale (WI), 2025

Body: 6-3, 180-pounds. Long levers, wide and sloped shoulders, more size and strength coming.
Hit: LHH. Stock set up, rhythmic move to hitting position. Loose bat speed, fluid and rhythmic through the ball, ball jumps off the bat to all fields. 70.1 mph bat speed with 15 G’s of rotational acceleration.

6. Carter Mantei, Brookfield East (WI), 2026
Positional Profile: C
Body: 6-2, 185-pounds. Strength throughout with good proportions.
Hit: RHH. Stock set up, simple approach, loads up on time. Direct path, bat speed and strength in hands allows for balls to be driven through both gaps. 66.1 mph bat speed with 5 G’s of rotational acceleration.
Power: 88 max exit velocity, averaged 69.6 mph. 291’ max distance.
Arm: RH. C - 75 mph. Short arc, quick arm, carry and accuracy to the target.

7. Andrew Belott, Wisconsin Lutheran (WI), 2026
Positional Profile: C/OF
Body: 5-11, 175-pounds. Strength throughout with good proportions.
Hit: RHH. Wide base with squat, early toe tap, simple load. Direct, handsy, ball jumps off barrel, hand and bat speed, tight rotation. 68.4 mph bat speed with 10 G’s of rotational acceleration.
Power: 90 max exit velocity, averaged 79.2 mph. 293’ max distance.
Arm: RH. C - 76 mph. OF - 85 mph. OF: 3/4 slot with quick arm, ball jumps out of hand with carry and accuracy. C: Short draw, quick arm, ball jumps out of hand.
Defense: 2.01-2.08 pop times. OF: Aggressive, athletic, modified crow hop, good direction towards target. C: Quick and clean transfer, can really turn the ball around, athletic on blocks and covering bunts.

Positional Profile: OF/LHP
Body: 5-7, 135-pounds. Athletic build with projection to frame.
Hit: LHH. Wider base, stock set up, rocks back into back leg and gets back to center on time creating leverage. Direct path, has control and feel for the barrel, sprays line drives to all fields. 56.6 mph bat speed with 8 G’s of rotational acceleration.
Power: 77 max exit velocity, averaged 69.6 mph. 189’ max distance.

Patrick Fischer, South Milwaukee (WI), 2028

Body: 5-10, 180-pounds. Strong build, more strength coming.
Hit: RHH. Stock set up, simple move to the ball, lands in strong hitting position on time. Direct, downhill with some barrel whip through the ball. 63.2 mph bat speed with 7 G’s of rotational acceleration.

Hit: RHH. Stock set up, short leg kick, on time to hitting position, short hand trigger, gets to hitting position on time. Downhill, direct, drives it through the big part of the field, back spins it. 71.1 mph bat speed with 7 G’s of rotational acceleration.

Alexander LaCombe, Oconomowoc (WI), 2027

Body: 5-4, 135-pounds. Strong build throughout, athletic, sloped shoulders, will add size and strength.
Hit: RHH. Wide base, crouched set up, lands centered on time. Flat hand path, line drive approach, uses lower half well, stays behind the baseball well. 55.7 mph bat speed with 16 G’s of rotational acceleration.
