Continuing our coverage of the most-viewed profiles of 2023, 3B/RHP Carter Kutz (Hartford Union, 2025; Nebraska commit) ranks at No. 4.

Since the inception of the Class of 2025 Rankings, Kutz has been a name towards the top, if not at No. 1. In the spring, Kutz was a key piece for his Hartford squad, a team that made a cinderella run all the way to the state tournament in early June. Then across the summer, he continued to dominate on both sides of the ball, where he would consistently run his lively fastball in the upper-80s, all while making loud contact from a quick right-handed swing. His standout summer culminated in him representing Team Wisconsin at the 2023 Prep Baseball Future Games.

Along with some of the best then-uncommitted talent, Kutz made the trip down to Georgia in July for the annual event. Across the entirety of the Future Games, Kutz continued to reinforce himself as a prominent two-way prospect in the state; here is what we had to say regarding his performance there:

“The power comes naturally for Kutz, standing at 6-foot-2, 185-pounds. He homered in Appleton during the State Tournament, in his round of BP on Wednesday, early on in Team Wisconsin’s pregame BP, and capped off the summer with a home run to deep left field in the second matchup of the weekend; Kutz’s bat speed and quick hands, shown throughout the on-field BP portion of the week, allows him to pull inside pitches and keep the ball fair, all of which was illustrated in gameplay. Positionally, Kutz performed as both a catcher and infielder, finishing with pop times from 1.89-1.94 seconds, and an infield velocity of 88 mph. He stuck at the third base position during gameplay when he wasn’t pitching on the mound. The right-hander got up on the bump for two innings of work, working at an ultra-efficient pace and ranging his fastball in the mid-80s, reaching 87.9 mph.”

However, it wasn’t just the summer that propped Kutz’s abilities but also the fall, where he continued his impressive performances from the summer. During September, he made his presence known at the PBRT at The Rock Fall Championships, where despite the amount of high-end talent, Kutz rose above the rest and was arguably the top performer of the entire weekend.

Following the successful summer and fall circuits, Kutz committed to Nebraska in early November. The nationally-ranked junior will turn his sights to the spring where he looks to be a crucial part of Hartford Union’s roster and looks to return to the WIAA State Tournament.

Kutz boasts an impressive build at 6-foot-2, 185-pounds with athleticism throughout. Ranked No. 2 in Wisconsin’s 2025 class, he’s a toolsy prospect who has ran a 6.88 60-time. On Saturday, Kutz showed off his two-way abilities in a big way. To start his performance, he hit a no-doubt home run out to left. Kutz later hopped on the bump to collect the last six outs of the game, spinning two perfect frames and punching out four. Kutz featured a fastball that played anywhere from 83-87 mph, touching 88 at times with arm-side run and some spin (2300+ RPM). Kutz also mixed in a short mid-70’s breaking ball when needed. In an early Sunday morning game, Kutz peppered a ball down the left field line for a double. The right-handed hitter features a simple load with a controlled swing that barrels the baseball.
