2017 Spring Team Preview: Ripley vikings

Team Name: Ripley Vikings
Head Coach: Shane Casto (109-78 career record)
Classification: AAA
2016 Record: 24-12
Conference Record: Mountain State Athletic Conference
Returning Starters/Pitchers: 4/2

2017 Team Strengths:

  • Four starters return from state tournament team

2017 Team Weaknesses:

  • Loss of four seniors that have moved on to play college baseball

Coach Outlook: "We have a very solid group of returning players from last year's State Tournament team led by 2016 1st Team All-State selection, Anthony Jarvis, as well as, 3 other starters returning. I look for this team to be aggressive at plate and on the bases, and drive the baseball. If some of our young guys mature and accept their responsibilities, we could be right in the thick of things again at the end of the season."

PBR Outlook: The Vikings will rely heavily on the experience of multi-year starters Anthony Jarvis, Lane Casto and Ben Mack, all college-bound players, to lead the way. Overcoming the loss of four starters from last year's roster now playing in college will be the task if the Vikings would like to repeat their success of 2016.
