6-foot-3, 180-pound lengthy athletic frame. During the event, clocked a 60 time of 7.41. During batting practice, O'Brien recorded an exit velocity of 95 mph while starting in an open crouched stance with a tight load of the hands and using a leg kick approach. Bat speed was explosive while using an upward swing plane and high finish and a definite pull side approach. In the outfield, his best throw of the day was clocked at 85 mph with a quick exchange and athletic footwork. Had a long arm action and an-over-the-top slot with consistent accuracy to the base. On the mound, showed quick arm speed with a high ¾ arm angle. Slow-tempo type pitcher and shows easy, clean mechanics. Sat with his fastball at 82-83 mph with a max of 84 mph and had very consistent command with the pitch. Had very consistent control and deceiving action on his changeup (76-77). O'Brien does a nice job of repeating clean mechanics and the arm path is clean and efficient. He does a nice job of creating sink and arm side action on the fastball while also a tight, slider-type breaking ball (70-72 mph). Real feel for 3 pitches and a definite 2022 arm to keep an eye on.

O’Brien excels as both an arm and an outfielder but Saturday saw him exploit his talents on the mounds. The junior shows an easy, athletic delivery while featuring ahigh ¾ slot which creates some arm action into RH hitters. There is some quickness in the arm from a shorter arm slot. We have seen his fastball up to 85 mph previously but Saturday he stayed 81-83 mph with late sink throughout his 5.1 innings on the bump. O’Brien consistently mixed in his quality breaking ball at 67-68 mph that looked more like a power breaking ball with late, sharp action. There is more velocity in the junior as he continues to mature physically. This makes him an intriguing guy to follow.

Above average from the outfield, he displayed a position velocity of 84 mph; had athletic footwork, a quick exchange and sure hands. From an-over-the-top slot, showed consistent accuracy to the base with a loose arm action. Recorded a time of 7.74 in the 60-yard dash. On the mound, used a loose arm action and a high ¾ arm angle while showing above average arm speed. Shows easy effort in his delivery. Produced a fastball that came in at 81-82 mph and topped out at 82 mph; has a heavy fastball that shows around the zone control and running action. Threw a 11/5 curveball (67-68) with swing and miss action and very consistent command. Really impressed as a two way guy at the event.

Showed solid bat control at the plate from a very simple approach, really forcing the hands and barrel inside the ball. Had no problems handling the ball on the inner half of the plate. The swing plane was level which resulted in a line drive approach. Was able to use the whole field in his approach. Defensively, he showed well at 3B and did a nice job resetting his feet and gaining ground toward the bag on his throws. Solid glove presentation and range both ways. On the mound, O’Brien sat 76-77 with the FB and was up to 78 mph. From a high ¾ slot, the FB seemed to have some late sink. The breaking ball showed nice action with late depth at 62-64 mph delivered from clean, simple mechanics that he was able to repeat each pitch.
