A fastball with hop has a flat approach angle and visually jumps through the zone. When thrown up in the zone, it is more likely to generate a higher swing and miss average. Hop+ of 100 is MLB average.
Fastball
Sink+
A fastball with sink has low backspin and drops through the strike zone. When thrown down in the zone, it is more likely to generate a higher ground ball percentage and lower launch angle. Sink+ of 100 is MLB average.
Fastball
Rise+
A fastball with rise has a high percentage of backspin. When thrown up in the zone, it is more likely to generate a higher fly ball percentage. Rise+ of 100 is MLB average
6-foot, 170-pound solid frame. Recorded a time of 7.25 in the 60-yard dash. Starts in a tall stance with a small load, then uses a controlled stride to initiate his swing. Bat speed was efficient, displayed rotational swing plane and high finish. Barreled up some balls with some loud contact. Pull side approach. the right-handed hitter's best exit velocity was 85 mph. While in the infield, made throws at velocities up to 84 mph; had consistent hands, fluid footwork and a quick exchange. Showed consistent accuracy to the bag and a high ¾ slot. Smooth on the mound, showed a ¾ arm angle with consistent arm speed. Uses easy effort in his delivery. Produced a fastball that came in at 81-82 mph and topped out at 83 mph; showed sinking action and very consistent command with heavy movement. Threw a 11/5 curveball (74-75) with sweeping action and glove side control. Has control low in the zone and fading action on his changeup (73-74).
4/28/19
Loudest BP of the day, showing big time pop to the pull side. Left the yard several times and was explosive with the lower half. The hands showed some twitch and and some power and did a nice job of staying on pitches. Was 90 mph exit velo off of a tee. Very athletic in the IF and was light on his feet and did a nice job presenting the glove out front. The arm across the diamond works (81 mph) and he showed real “feel” for the position. On the mound, he showed a FB up to 80 and created some run into RHH. The breaking ball showed nice shape and had tight spin. Really solid actions all the way around on the day
1.20.19- A young, but very impressive 2022 at the event. Another low to the ground player on the infield with nice club presentation and plenty of arm strength across the diamond. A very solid defender. On the mai A young, but very impressive 2022 at the event. Another low to the ground player on the infield with nice club presentation and plenty of arm strength across the diamond. A very solid defender. On the mound he showed a very loose arm action with ASR on his FB that was up to 80 mph with a tight spin on his breaking ball. At the plate he starts with a narrow square stance and creates some launch in the swing but was predominantly a line drive guy during BP. He did use all fields during his round. A very interesting 2022 to keep an eye on.
