6-foot 192 pounds, strong and mature build, athleticism plays very well behind the plate. (Running) 7.84 runner in the 60. (Offense) RH. Max EV 94. Max Dist. 352. Strong and athletic set up in the box. Shoulder width base and slight bend in the knees. Hands are held higher about ear height, pushed back some. Toe-tap stride direct to pitcher, lands in a good spot. Gains some early length with hands in load. Has some hand and bat speed, gains good extension through the baseball, ability to adjust to various locations. Cutting down early length will simplify swing and allow a shorter and tighter swing that could get more on the baseball. LD/FB contact to the middle during BP rounds, gap-to-gap hitter with power potential. (Defense) (C) RH. C velo 74. Pop times 1.95-2.20. Good mobility/flexibility behind the plate. Athletic movements at C position. Easy actions with a low effort arm. Room to clean up the throwing mechanics some to create a more consistent and stronger arm. Arm has definite upside. Will be a top catcher in the class as he moves on. (Defense) (C) RH. C velo 79. Pop times 1.88-1.98. Advanced arm strength, pop times, and accuracy of throws. Showed he will have a plus arm down the road. Very athletic behind the plate, gets out of his blocking position and ready to throw at a fast pace. Will follow development with receiving the baseball and handling a staff.

2024 RHP/C Brendan Burke (Desert Vista)- 5-foot-11, 165-pounds, average frame, young body, physical maturity left. Worked out as a two-way player. Right-handed hitter, narrow base, relaxed upright posture. Uses a light leg lift with little forward move. Some rhythm in the hands, starting the swing from the back foot. Handsy swing, created above average bat speed for his age with some ability to accelerate. More pop as he learns to incorporate his legs more. Used the whole field with mostly LD contact, 84.65mph exit velocity via Trackman. Ran a 8.08 60-yard dash. Exaggerated staggered stance in secondary, low primary. Uses a quick forward step to create direction to the bag, getting tall in his legs. Makes transfer on the side of his body. Average hands with relax & catch, some late glove movement trying to bring the ball back to the strike zone. Also worked out on the mound. Athletic delivery with easy effort from 1B side of the rubber, lands with front foot closed preventing some extension. Stays connected to the rubber until front foot strike. Throws with short arm action from H3/4 slot with a varied release point. FB was thrown up and to the glove side with occasional cut, sitting 76-78 while topping at 79.08 via Trackman with average spin. Mixed in a breaking ball with slurvy action at 64-69mph.
9/27/19
Turned in one of the better 2-way performances of the event so far. On the mound, Burke showcased his arm strength, running the FB up to 72. The delivery is inconsistent at times. At the plate he shows an advanced ability to drive balls, and even has some power potential as evident by the 2B hit to the wall in LF.
