Chase Whitley turned in a very quality workout. He showed athleticism, twitchy actions, and took an intriguing round of BP. He turned in Arizona's top 60 yard time at 6.61, speed translates down the line and in the OF. He jumped a 31 inch vertical. And showed arm strength from the OF, touching 90 mph during the defensive portion. The bat path showed it will play and with added strength the ball will start jumping to the gaps. Whitley is one of Arizona's top athletes on a skilled roster, high follow with much room to grow in all parts of his game.
6/08/22
6-foot 170 pounds, projectable build with tools. Room for added strength, good athlete. (Running) 6.69 runner in the 60. (Offense) RH. Max EV 96. Max Dist. 342. Athletic in stance, base is outside of shoulder width, athletic bend in the knees. Some rhythm with the hands pre-pitch. Knee-to-knee stride direct to pitcher, lands in starting point. Hands are fired from a strong position with a direct path to the baseball. Has some bat speed and length with the barrel through the zone. Good extension through contact. Gap-to-gap XBH type bat with speed down the line. Mix of GB/LD/FB contact to all parts of the field. Best contact was line drive to middle/oppo gap. (Defense) (OF) RH. OF velo 86. Longer arm action with some effort. Throws were kept low through the cut with 4 seam flight. Should see arm strength increase over time. Speed plays very well in the OF. Ability to play all OF spots.
