6/27/18 - Iowa commit. 6-foot-1, 180-pound frame. Henderson possesses many qualities that immediately stand out: the athleticism, low ¾ release, substantial sink on the fastball, and his lightning quick, whippy arm speed, are a few of them. His fastball ranged from 83-85 mph on this day and we have seen him up to 87 mph in the past. Should induce a very high rate of ground balls for the foreseeable future. His sweeping slider was thrown at 72-74 mph and continues to show promise of developing into a swing-and-miss type pitch. The continued development of his arsenal should give right handed hitters nightmares at the next level.
1/28/18 - Henderson’s ability to pound the zone with a sinking fastball from a tough, lower 3/4 slot, especially so early in the preseason, should make him a highly coveted recruit throughout the spring. He was up to 85 mph on the day, and that number should tick up more later on the spring, and showed the ability to work the ball to the bottom of the zone on both sides of the plate. Combine that with a sweeping slider at 72-73 that could become a swing and miss weapon soon, and Henderson will have a chance to get key outs at the next level. I was a fan of the athleticism that he showed throughout his delivery, and even more so of how quick he was to the plate with runners on. I also think that he will be able to drop down even lower in the future if needed. At 6-foot-1, 180-pounds with a short, whippy arm from that slot, I believe that Henderson may end up being a key piece to some school’s recruiting class in the future.
10/29/17 – 6-foot 175-pound quick twitch frame with proportional strength and broad shoulders. Very good athlete whose high tempo delivery and lightning quick arm stand out immediately. Threw heavy 85-87 mph sinkers from a low angle that easily register as the best pitch of the event. Fastball appeared to get a foot of late movement at times. Also mixed in 70-73 mph slurve with consistent rotation that should continue to develop into an average secondary offering as his timing gets more consistent. One of the top uncommitted 2019 prospects in Arizona; Henderson is capable of getting outs at any level.
