2/28/18 - Oregon State commit. The athletic, undersized lefty worked 82-85 with his fastball, showing command to both sides of the plate. A polished pitcher, Murphy varied the timing of his delivery and kept hitters off balance throughout the day. Murphy is an impressive athlete that made a game-changing defensive play, throwing off balance to nail a runner at second as part of a double play after a rundown between third and home. Murphy also featured a sinking changeup at 73 mph and varied speeds on his breaking ball that was in the zone as more of a get me over type pitch.
