73.0
Power / Speed Score
A simple calculation that divides the athlete’s Exit Velocity Max by the athlete’s 60 Yard Dash time for the given event year. For example, 98 MPH / 7.00s = 14.00.
5’10 165-pound athletic frame. Starts with an open stance and good rhythm in hands. Strides leading with heel to get back to square. Hard contact through the middle of the infield staying inside the baseball. Exit velo at 80 MPH. Runs well enough to stay in center but may be limited to play left with arm strength at 73 MPH. Ran a 6.81 60.
6/5/18 - 5’10 160-pound switch hitting OF Noah Nithman has always been able to run and hit, but showed the best 60 time we've seen from him (6.76) and stood out defensively in game action, making multiple plays to take away extra bases in CF. Projects as a center fielder at the next level if he can significantly improve present arm strength/action (73 mph outfield velocity in this look), but more likely is pigeon-holed to LF. Nithman continued to impress at the plate with his smooth left handed swing that generated an 89 mph exit velocity.
5/19/18 - He was the only player to leave the yard at Salt River Fields during BP, doing so multiple times from the left side. Shows natural loft in swing and is a quick twitch athlete. 6.88 60-yard dash. Arm may limit him to LF at the DI level, but the bat should easily play there.
3/6/18 - Fast-twitch young outfielder shows bat to ball ability. Possesses some present strength with the type of high-waisted body that projects to add even more while maintaining his speed. Ran 4.38 turn from the left side. Instinctive defender gets good bat reads. Arm is only thing presently holding him back from being a high-end prospect. Throw tool could improve with mechanical adjustments.
1/28/18 -Nithman does two things very well, hit and run. An impressive athlete (6.89 60-yard dash) in a solid 5-foot-10, 160-pound frame with some present strength and more to come. There's very little question about his offensive ability with a powerful, fast-twitch swing that finds the barrel in game action. A natural mover in the outfield, if he can improve his arm action and strength, it would go a long way towards helping reach his ceiling as a prospect.
10/29/17 – Compact 5-foot-10, 160-pound frame with quick twitch ability and good strength for a young prospect. Nithman was a standout at the event and put himself on the radar of everyone in attendance. Turned in the day’s top 60 time with a 6.97. Showed impressive bat speed in BP and is looking to lift the ball with authority. Hits from a tall, narrow setup with a long stride, generating good separation and extension in his swing. Raw defensive prospect with a very high arm slot has the necessary athleticism to become a solid outfielder. In PBR’s first look at Nithman, he made it very clear that he is one to watch in the sophomore class.
