7/19/24
McKinnon was named MVP of the tournament after leading his Tritons club to Gold. Known around the province as one of the top right-handers in the ‘24 class, McKinnon also made a major impact with the bat going 6-for-11 with two big RBI in the final game. On the mound, he threw eight innings across two outings allowing four earned runs and picked up the save in the final, stranding the bases loaded in the final frame of his high school career. With a fastball that has topped 92mph and a batting average well above .350, Mckinnon is primed to make an immediate impact at Bossier Parrish.
2/04/24

The Bossier Parish commit is one the top RHPs in BCs 2024 class. The 6-foot-1, 180-pound White Rock Triton has been up to 89 mph with the fastball out of a high ¾ slot. Mckinnon creates a steep approach angle down in the zone and likes to live there. The curveball profiles more like a slider with sharp horizontal bite to it. The changeup movement profile is similar to that of his fastball but he does a good job adding arm side to it and killing spin, making it an effective offering when located down in the zone. McKinnon made a name for himself in 2023 and will look to do much of the same in 2024.

4/01/21

McKinnon showed some quick moves in the box at the Tritons Scout Day. McKinnon looks like an aggressive swinger, sitting among leaders in his age group on the day in Rotational Acceleration and Bat Speed via Blast Motion. He found a few barrels with a good sound the exited to the big parts of the field with backspin. There is a lot to look forward to with McKinnon at the plate; he could develop into a top right-handed power bat for his class. Defensively, McKinnon showed some excellent footwork and feel for the infield, showing some rhythm through the ball and a quick transfer to throw across the diamond. On the bump, a solid right-hander for his age group with some positive downhill movement. Ben showed good feel for three pitches, including a breaking ball and changeup combination, while topping out at 73MPH on the day in his last pitch. McKinnon will be fun to follow going forward.
