Bird is an interesting right-hander out of the Cloverdale Rangers program, who with some added refinement has a chance to be a quality arm. Checking in at 6-foot-1, 190-pounds, the 2027 graduate has good balance throughout his delivery and a repeatable arm action. The fastball comes out of his hand nicely at 81.1-83.3, topping out at 84 mph with 22 inches of horizontal movement, while also mixing in a curveball that has shape at 68-70 mph (2200+) and a 75 mph changeup that 19 inches of negative movement. With time on his side, it'll be interesting to see how Bird develops as he adds some size over the next couple of years.

2/19/24

Bird caught the eyes of our staff with a projectable body at 5-foot-11, 170-pounds with the ability to throw multiple pitches with plus movement. His curveball and changeup are both potential strikeout pitches, as they generate OZ chase and swing & miss. On the mound Bird’s delivery was smooth and was able to feel the zone with his FB/CB/CH arsenal. Pitching was Bird’s best shown skillset at this event, but smooth hands and a good arm make him a solid shortstop in BCs 2027 class. At the dish Bird has a quiet swing and showed adjustability in the swing and bat-to-ball ability. Bird is an arm to keep in eyes on as he grows in size going forward and begins to face higher levels in competition.
