Although Day won’t blow you away with velocity, it’s his pitch profiles that are the most impressive. His fastball, at 78-79 mph, has 22.7 inches of HB and just 4.2 inches of IVB. The changeup profiles similarly with slightly less HB at 18.1 inches. The curveball has two-plane break (-10.0 inches of IVB, -14.9 inches of HB) and plays well off the fastball out of the same arm slot sitting 67-69 mph. Mixing these 3 offerings effectively at the bottom of the zone will allow Day to generate weak contact and plenty of swing and miss. The Cloverdale product has jumped onto the scene and will be an intriguing follow and he heads into the offseason.
