A member of the 2023 Jr. Future Games where he represented Team California, Brown followed that performance up with a standout freshman season at Ayala that saw him hit over .330 for the season. He has carried that momentum into a strong fall campaign with visions of an even bigger sophomore season ahead. In this event, Brown once again was amongst the top catchers in what was a very strong group of them. At 6’1” 166-pounds, Brown was amongst the leaders in catcher stats (77mph throws/2.03-2.11 pop times), cementing himself a spot on this and future lists. At the plate it was another barrel filled round that saw Brown pepper the right side of the field with line drives that would almost certainly be extra base hits in game situations.

Codey Brown, Ayala (CA), 2027
Positional Profile: C/1B Polished younger player who shows advanced tools behind the plate and at the plate with intriguing potential.
Body: 6-1, 165-pounds. Wiry frame with athletic build and wide shoulders to build strength throughout.
Hit: RHH. Even set up with feet and knees slightly wider than his shoulders features small crouch with knee bend and a vertical upper body posture. Hands are set above shoulder height slightly in front of the rear shoulder with low back elbow and barrel tipped back towards 3B dugout. Small sit into his rear leg to start his load with a small foot lift into a short stride to reach foot strike for launch position. Hands work in a small pump circle with a barrel tip to get loaded. Starts turn process getting down into his rear knee with hips and shoulder sequencing later in the turn to drive all the way through contact. Path is slightly uphill working into the zone early with a higher finish which helps him get the baseball in the air with consistency.
Power: 90 max exit velocity, averaged 80.6 mph. 325' max distance. Ability to get the ball in the air is present with bat path and ability to use lower 1/2 for leverage while producing a 90% LD/Fly ball rate, but some issues getting to sweet spot of barrel effects contact quality. Shows present doubles power with room to grow in HR in future.
Arm: RH. C-75 mph. Quick transfer at the chest with a quick drawback of arm lead by his elbow. There is present arm speed with some strength which helps him get online throws at present. Some release point issues effect accuracy.
Defense: 2.01-2.19 pop times. Athletic receiver who shows mobility in lower 1/2 with feel to receive/present pitchers while being agile in his block. ATH: 7.16 runner in the 60. 1.63 and 3.88 in the 10 and 30 yard splits. Gets vertical early in the run portion with length and quickness to his stride while showing body control 27.00 max vertical.
